I like it!
That's awfully clever!
Shouldn't you have two of them?
I've kept the other half in case I want to make another, but am concentrating on getting one finished first.
:-bd =D> :-bd
Damn! Clever idea!
Top idea
Made a load of HAS in 1/300th from the centre of toilet rolls...
What a stunningly simple, but brilliant idea. :-bd
I love it !!
Cheers - Phil :)
Thanks chaps :). It just came to me when washing up in one of those light bulb moments! Also as a wargamer I'm always on the look out for 'stuff' that might be useful for terrain etc.
Well done, looks the part for being such a simple object to start.
Brilliant, How did you cut it?
@ Orcs: I simply put it in a vice end on, then carefully sawed down one length, turned it round 180 degrees and repeated along the opposite side. For the base I used a cutting disc in a dremel so as not to damage the halves as they are easy to bend when the structure has been cut. Hope this helps?
Thanks , I thought as much, but wondered about it loosing its integrity
What a Fab idea Steve - looks great at 10mm - might also work for 6mm I suspect.
I am looking forward to seeing the finished model.
You might need a small metal chimney for the stove in the back office?
Inspiring :)

"Thank Orville and Wilbur that the Bocage has folding wings" exclaimed Algy, as they wheeled the crate into safe harbour.
"Sorry dear, we need to buy more Oxtail Soup, my Tangmere table is incomplete."
Thanks Mark and a nice idea re: the chimney!

I've had to compromise on the 'scale', as otherwise it would have dominated the table, but luckily folding wings are a feature of the 'Bocage' ;) :D.
Part 2 on my scratch build can be found on my Blog:

That works very nicely!
Yes looks very good indeed....the lighter window frames work well :-bd
Looks brilliant!
Terrific ! :-bd
Cheers - Phil :)
That looks really good
Thanks chaps :).
Outstanding Steve
I was thinking about what else you could use the 'tin' idea for. Maybe an oil or gas storage tank?
I have used assorted packing material to attempt to create sci-fi buildings - the inside of a biscuit packet (the plastic bit) has been saved to turn into a green house - the idea being to fill it with plaster of paris (or filler) to make it more robust. But that is still on the 'to-do' list.
:-bd =D> :-bd
Mark, they are perfect for oil and gas storage tanks, albeit a tad large on the footprint front etc. However some of the smaller tin cans would be perfect IMHO. Something else to bear in mind when sorting through the re-cycling :D.
Mark if you do 15 or 20mm WWII Brits the Plastic Soldier Carrier kit is your freind. It comes with a shed load of extras, inculding all the fuel tanks for a Wasp - both versions.

Like that a lot
Thanks Will :).
You have 'bean' and made a very nice model.
If you had a German plane outside, perhaps the pilots name would have bean Heinz!
Thanks for sharing this neat idea. I get the sense with lockdown, we are moving from gamers to modellers. Both activities give pleasure, and wargaming is like railway hobby in that we build and play.
An elegant build! :-bd
That really has worked superbly, Steve. :-bd
Cheers - Phil. :)
Thanks :).
@ Orcs: I may nick the 'Heinz' name for the pilot as I love the humour assosciated with the whole build :D.
@ Sunray: I love scratch building stuff, much more so than painting figures. I should focus on the latter rather than the former!
:-bd =D> :-bd
Excellent stuff Steve, that has worked really well 8)
