Not the most original title I admit, but I thought the following items would help pass away a few hours as and when one has the time to peruse them:
An episode Channel 4's Game of War tv series from way back in 1997. I loved this series and wish they'd done more:

The latest issue of Warning Order magazine from Matt Irsik:

An Operation Market Garden AAR by Jon Bleasdale on XXX Corps attempted breakout using BKCIV and 6mm figures. Simply a joy to behold:

Thanks Steve, much needed at the moment.
Hope you and your family have a great and safe Christmas.
Cheers Paul

I think they were really stereotyping the demographic when they chose Angela Rippon as the host
Thanks Steve, the Market Garden game looks superb!
Good idea Steve
Good idea Steve
May I add in Lindy beige's rant about money?
(I always knew that decimalisation was a bad idea)
Or you could learn about Richard III for free at Futurelearn
https://www.futurelearn.com/courses/england-of-richard-third (https://www.futurelearn.com/courses/england-of-richard-third)
Or you can dip into nostalgia with this Games Day 1987 (with photos by a certain Phil Lewis - whatever happened to him?)
Raunchy Wench drawing competition? Really?
Raunchy Wench ?
You should see some of the pics I've got from those two. :o
No...you're never going to see them. X_X
Nobby...you're still a complete OIK !!
Cheers - Phil :P
If they were on Channel 4 the should be on All4 - I'm going to have a search.
If you want a laugh watch the 4 blokes from my favourite Board Game YouTube channel - Shut Up & Sit Down - play a Megagame. 4 People who are used to very controlled environments where there is a rule that will cover everything, thrown into an environment where there are few rules, and anything can be tried (the moment half way through when they find this out is funny!)

The following year they went back, and it was much, MUCH bigger - the video for that is in 2 parts. Anybody who has played a Kriegspiel will recognise the "WTF is going on" sentiment.
If you have acces to it, i watched valley of tears, a miniseries about the yom kippur war last week. great series!

Cheers - Phil ;)
Done! :D

What else could I expect from such an oik !!
Cheers - Phil. :)
Ooooh...something to be cheerful about in the Northern Hemisphere.....The days start getting longer, and the nights shorter after today. :-bd
The radio's given two different figures, this morning....One said the days extend 3 minutes for every day......another time they said three seconds per day.
(I found a figure of 33minutes per day on the interweb. :o :o :o :o Shome mishtake shooorly.)
Cheers - Phil. :)
It's 2020. I wouldn't bet on it.

Techno I'm not sure really but I think Days don't actually extend after the winter Solstice :D
Daylight hours may extend but days stay roughly 24 Hours the whole year through 8)

Sean - leave the pedantry to me ;)
"It would seem logical that after the shortest day has elapsed the mornings would start getting lighter earlier, but this isn't what happens - the mornings continue darkening until early in the new year." - BBC
"Meanwhile, those who thought that the winter solstice would mark the earliest sunset would also be wrong as the earliest sunset arrives a couple of weeks earlier." - BBC

Actually, I believe it is approximately 1 minute more day per day. @-)
I doubt it is a fixed amount it would depend on lattitude.
I always find this site helpful.

8)
But - London is 8 minutes behind Bristol, or may be in front. It would be the same for Merseyside. Our fixed times are due to Isembard Kingdom Brunel, who wanted a sensible timetable for GWR (and has obviously failed)

It was a good idea, but he failed to realize that the train companies would find adhering to any sensible timetable impossible. :)
Steve, a belated thanks for the vid of Naseby. Watching two actual generals fight a wargame was interesting particularly when they seemed no different than the typical wargamer. Watching the referee seemingly making it up as he went along confirmed my approach to solo gaming. :)
Also thanks for the WO reminder.
Lindybiege on English coinage (my total knowledge to date comes from Ken Follett's Kingsbridge books) is now on my view during the next snowstorm list

A dead sheep. (The last of the fluffies)...I knew something was wrong when I heard a load of corvids having a mega-squabble.....The bloody models just would NOT go right....Another model fell down the back of a radiator....(Only took two hours to retrieve it....and by the time I DID get it back, all the putty had gone gloopy from getting too hot, too quickly..).....A trip down to the vets for ANOTHER load of antibiotics. (If I ever find the rat that bit Sam on the nose......It's Dead !!..It's cost us oodles over the last few weeks !)
To cap it all.....The vets was an 'alfresco' consultation....It was HISSING down.....I'm soaked !!
Apart from that.....not a bad day. ;)
Cheers - Phil. (At least I'm not stuck in a 'traffic jam' in Kent.......Poor sods !)
Well I don't think I can complain about anything today after what you've been through Phil :o!!!
Crumbs Phil, that sounds like the day from hell.
You deserve a quiet evening with a nice cuppa or something stronger
These things shall pass. O:-)
It's what takes their place that worries me.
"Cheer up!" they said,"Things could be worse!"
So I cheered up and, right enough, things got worse!
:) :) :)
I am always cheered by this song
