Hi there! My name is Matt, and I am just getting into 10mm wargaming. My father is a wargamer, and I have experience as a scale modeller. I want to try my hand 10mm Colonials, particularly French Foreign Legion, the Boxer Rebellion, and the Anglo-Zulu War. I am from Western Mass, and hope to meet some more 10mm wargamers!
Welcome Matt.
Well done on your choice of "the One True Scale" - 10mm.
Well done on your choice of supplier - Pendraken. Great company, and lovely people.
Photos of your progress, please.
Sure! Any specific thread I could post Colonials?
More da*ned colonials, the tone of this mess is falling ! :'(
Welcome - there are time period sections, use which ever seems appropriate - your stuff is late 19th and early 20th Century.
Haha, Thanks! I also want to try WWII to present as well.
Welcome Matt,
You will find Pendraken's customer service is Excellent. Probably second to none.
The French Foreign legion range is quite small, but you can find additional suitable figures in the 19th Century South Pacific war of 1979-1884.
Welcome on board Matt :).
Thanks for the information and greetings!
If we are talking Colonials when did the British Army wear white pith helmets and red tunics? I have always fancied having some of those so are they in the Pendraken range?
That, along with the French Foreign Legion and the Boxer Rebellion. I have some from Pendraken.
Hello and welcome
Welcome! Looking forward to seeing your work :D
Thank you both!

Welcome Matt :-h
Thanks you two!
Welcome Matt!
I'm a pre-1700 gamer so not much use on your interest area but anything in 10mm is great.
Incidentally, is you first language American? I do hope so. ;)
Hello Matt
If you're interested in Sudan you could do worse than look at the remake of the Sands Of Sudan rules spread through the With Pyjamas in the Desert blog https://withpyjamasthroughthedessert.blogspot.com/2013/06/peter-gilders-sands-of-sudan-rules.html (https://withpyjamasthroughthedessert.blogspot.com/2013/06/peter-gilders-sands-of-sudan-rules.html). They are cooperative/solo rules based on the 'Pony Wars' rules. Lot of fun
Cheers

That's exactly what I am doing with my Sands of Sudan Project.

Oh Neat!
:-h Welcome aboard, Sir! :-h
Colonial period a fine choice! I play a lot of "The Men Who Would be Kings" from Osprey ( :-$ in a larger scale - I wish, with hindsight, I had committed to 6 or 10mm)

M18 TD Battalions anybody? 8)
My manager was messing about with a quiz function on our new intranet. She set up a question which had a picture of an M18 on it. The question was "what kind of tank is this?" Obviously, having watched the Chieftain's history of the US Tank Destroyer force, I was able not only to disabuse her of the notion that the M18 was a tank, but also gave her a concise origin story and description of usage.
She won't try that again.
Anyway, long story short, I'm a M10 man myself. If it was good enough for Otto Skorzeny, it is good enough for me!

Yeah, M10s are cool too. I kinda like both though. :D
Welcome Mr Sawyer, a fine name from your part of the World. An Ironic introduction with a former Colonial interested in Colonial Warfare, I think we may enjoy the company. There is normality in the madness here, the insanity is refreshing.

Hah! I've never thought of it like that, but very true indeed! However, as I stated I'm more interested in the adventure of late 19th Century Colonial expeditions then the AWI personally. Also hope to do WWII and Korean War stuff as well. :)
