Hey everyone,
I hope you are all well, and that you and yours are safe and healthy during these weird times. My name's JP and I have been a wargamer for many years. Predominantly a 28mm scale hobbyist my first venture into small scale miniatures was when Warmaster was released by GW. I was working for the company at the time, managing the Leeds store, I believe, and this was one of my favourite systems. That and Man 'O' War. Anyway, I've mainly painted larger scales, the only other venture into smallscale was Battlefront's Flames Of War and Team Yankee, again when I was working for them.
I've been out of the hobby for a few years; tried coming back with Oathmark, but found it difficult to get into (plus the space needed and cost involved was a little off putting due to limited finances). I was also having issues painting as eyesight is not what it once was.
And so here I am, looking at diving into 10mm!! ;D
I saw a YT video about Warband, found the website and have spent the last few days/weeks pouring over the images. I have now seen a few in person, and I am converted.
Not sure about using them for Warband directly - I am a big fan of Warmaster still (and about to embark on a big Empire painting commission) but I think I'll be grabbing the book to see what its like. Basing might have to be smaller due to lack of space - 50 x 20 - but otherwise I'm loving the look of the models.
I am also considering either Napoleonics, Anglo-Zulu wars or ACW.
Anyway, that's me. Wanted to say hi.
All the best
JP
Welcome JP,
Blitzkrieg Commander and the other "Commander" rules are based on the Warmaster mechanisms. So if want to try WW2, Modern and SciFi games these will be familiar to you.
Best wishes,
Martin
Welcome JP!
I hope you share all you get up to, we all love to see what others do with the figures. Even though I've mostly focused on historical, I have painted up a handful of the fantasy range as individually based figures and they are really nice to work with.
No doubt the longer you browse and see other people posting here the more temptation you'll have before you, so when you say either Napoleonics, Anglo-Zulu wars or ACW we all know you really mean AND. ;)
Hi JP,
I was in the Leeds store only once, buying Warmaster figures, on my way to Golden Demon to demo Warmaster there. Who knows, we may have met in real life!
I will issue my regular greeting to new forumites.
The members here are welcoming, well read, well informed, well meaning and, on occasion, well weird. :)
Threads are derailed regularly but "rerailed" fairly simply too.
And finally, if you have half as good a time here as I have, I'll be having twice as good a time as you. Did I mention weird? ;)
Welcome on board JP :).
Hello and welcome JP.
