Title: Earthquake (well tremor at least).
Post by: sunjester on 08 September 2020, 10:24:01 AM
Had everything in the house shaking a bit earlier this morning. Apparently it was a 3.3 mag tremor centred on Leighton Buzzard (10 miles away). According to the British Geological Survey website that's a bit bigger than usual, most seem to be in the 0.5 - 1.5 mag range around here.

I checked with Mad Lemmy and he's OK!

Good to hear all ok :)

Once you start getting to 'significant' shakes the depth becomes a very significant factor

Okay, someone explain the depth bit to me.
10k down, that's a tiny fraction of the crust, what happened down there today? Not sure we are even near an active fault (like the Stretton fault in Shropshire).
