Hi Leon
You do some great figures any chance of going 1812 American's
Regards
Kevin
We've got the 1812 range at No.2 in the Top 10 Requests currently so it's certainly on the radar: http://www.pendrakenforum.co.uk/index.php/topic,19335.0.html
Thought I would bump up this thread and make the same request for 1812 in North America.
The new British Peninsular War figures might proxy pretty well for US regulars but the rest of the US forces are difficult to approximate.
I have looked at 1809 Austrian Jagers and Landswehr to get the top hat look but the fringed hunting shirts for the militia is right out.
Considered the AWI Continentals in hunting shirts but major modifications to headwear and trousers would be required (and well beyond my skills).
1809 Austrian artillery might also work for US.
Speaking of top hats are there any 1812 Royal Marines lm the offing?
Just now taking a second look at 1812 and any ideas anyone has for proxies would be appreciated.
What area(s) are you looking at doing?
Along the US/Canadian border, the Chesapeake landings or Pakenham's expedition to the Gulf?
Hi Peter. The Niagara Frontier. Bladensburg is interesting (in the way Tippermuir is interesting :) ) and it is local but I what to concentrate on one area. Niagara seems the most interesting (and the most competitive).
And, yes, 10's are back on (a long story).

Understandable as their were several reasonably large scale battles on the northern border - Wasn't one of them fought right next to the Niagara Falls?
Anyway I hope you get the figures you need....catch up with you soon.
OK, water hazard....4, 5, 6 unit is disordered until end of round....
Thanks, Peter. Yes Lundy's Lane (which has a decent park and visitor's center in the midst of urban sprawl).
Kitty one of your event cards might do the trick - the American right wanders into a sudden bank of fog and mist and is never seen again.

How long has it been on the request list now? That radar seems to be moving awfully slowly...

It's been there for ages but I think we've explained before that it would need to be done as part of the overall Napoleonics expansions rather than jumping straight to it. With the impending Peninsular ranges ticking off a large chunk of the period that clears the decks a little and we can look at where to go next. I think most folks wanted the Russians to be done next and then we can look at either War of 1812 or the Revolutionary ranges.
Leon, thanks for that answer. The extant 1812 Russians seem to cover the basics for doing Borodino but could obviously be expanded and would likely have a much larger audience than my narrow focus on the 1814 Niagara campaign.
The British and Canadian militia are very doable even with existing ranges and I think I can find sufficient proxies to do the American forces. Dispensing with the hunting shirts and giving the American militia a more uniform look will solve the remaining problems. Likely next month I'll be interested in something else anyway! :D
I'll ask anyone who reads this and has proxy ideas to please share them.
The following links have loads of useful info on the uniforms worn, units involved etc:

Excellent resource, Steve, thank you!
The companion thread for the American forces:

Thanks for sorting the US forces Bill, as I don't know how I ruined the link in my post!
Your link was fine. It took me right there. The British and American topics are under the same sub forum but not linked in anyway that I could see. I had to use the search feature to find the Americans. You landed me close enough! :)
You could consider mounting cavalry for this period on LoA dragoon horses ...
Add my vote please. Any chance of seeing this range soon?

Not sure to be honest. We did some test sculpts in 3D but didn't get any further than that as I don't have any time to start collating the reference info for it.
As an alternative to to Napoleonics, id like to see this range come out
Would also like to add my vote for this range!

I do have all the reference data required, including many of the state militia uniforms, but not the time nor energy to collate it.
For the US you would need 3 regular infantry codes (4 if you're being really pedantic), and at least 5 codes for the militia infantry, at least 3 for the US militia cavalry.Plus a new type if you want include everything, the Pennsylvania militia cuirassiers.....
For the Canadians, the regulars can be catered for by Peninsula British ranges pretty much, so that's good, but you have at least 2 militia foot; and 3 militia cavalry but 2 of which may be made from existing figures I think.
Contrary to at least one author's assertions, the US militia uniforms were
more heavily regulated than the regular army, and amounted to ~750,000 troops if you added them all together embodied at once, so it does make for an interesting army if varied uniforms are your thing. Of course, not all the militias saw action, so it may take the pack count down a smidgeon if only those that saw combat are made.

When has that ever stopped us ;D
I'd still like to see this range come out as an alternative to mainstream Naps

I'm pretty sure Sunjester and I know someone who has more of a certain model of tank than Hitler did! (Side-eye wondering if it is Orcs)

This range would be cool to see, add me in too
...And as that was your first post...a warm welcome to the forum !
Cheers - Phil.
Hello and welcome
Welcome to the forum and thanks for your vote as well!
Hi - enjoy on here !
Appreciate it fellas, I'm a super big AWI painter but I'm starting to get an interest into the War of 1812. Gotta mix it up a bit!
