The final game in our fictional 19thC campaign can be found below:

A truly epic end to a well run campaign. Hats off to Grande Umpire Steve J for stitching this together and nagging us for the orders. Once I realised I could use crayons to draw my orders it was quite easy, in the final hurrah I used all three colours. I will open a bottle of the finest Prusskian 'Pyrrhic' Spirit and celebrate the growth of Cabbages now that we can end the scourge of Rhubarb.

Thanks chaps and also to Dave and Keith for being happy to be the guinea pigs for this first PBEM campaign :).

Steve, you mentioned using the Glory Hallelujah! supplement for this with BP. I've heard others (Norm maybe) mention using the same. What is it about it that you find useful? I don't own it but was curious what you used from it. I recall there being something about a change to move and shoot?

I'm looking at the pile of 2mm British and Russians I've just finished and painting up a bit of scenery in the scale and I'm thinking a microgame might be in order in the near future. I've got the original BP though haven't used it yet so would be good to get it on the table. I've played other rules in the series so know the workings and mechanics well enough, but would be curious what the differences from the supplement are and if its worth investigating?

The only one move and shoot makes a big difference, which is in the GH! supplement. There are other tweaks for cavalry, terrain etc that just seemed to fit in well with mid-19thC Europe IIRC.  You don't need it, but well worth getting IMHO.

Thanks Steve, good to know. I'll likely go with something fairly vanilla for my first game but may pick up the pdf of GH if it goes well.

I would also recommend V2 of Black Powder. There are some subtle changes in the rules and clarifications. Plus I find it much easier to navigate. Although it carries a high(ish) price it is well worth the investment. Glory Hallelujah really adds in terms of ACW, and from the PBEM campaign experience much of the period flavour can be transported back to Europe, the weapons are similar and hence the impact of good training, drills etc support this.

I had a fun mini game with it last night and worked well. I was looking at a few reviews for BP2 and most didn't seem that enthralled with the changes. Seemed to be mostly clarification and layout changes rather than much by the way of rules mechanics? Though they maybe were just doing a surface read.

I agree with Dave's thoughts on BPII. I was sceptical at first but managed to pick up a brand new copy for a good price and must say I was impressed.
