Title: AWI Br. Grenadier pack - what's the figure
Post by: Shecky on 09 January 2011, 09:08:38 PM
In the AWI Br. Grenadier command pack there is figure carrying a musketand looks like he is carrying a stick around his back. What's the stick and what kind of figure is he?

I'd take a picture of it but right now I'm in the middle of painting it and can't get a good shot.

Thanks,
Tom

If you mean figure 4  its an axe.

** the axe was carried by the Pioneers, and was used for chopping wood and preparing rough wooden defenses, but it could be pressed into service as a weapon.**

Pioneer Sergeant

The pioneer sergeant ran a ten-man section of pioneers, all skilled artisans, who were responsible for the maintenance of the barracks and camps. When the battalion was on the march the pioneers traditionally marched at its head to clear any obstacles.

Thanks. I see the axe blade now.  :-[

I figured it was some sort of pioneer but I wanted to be sure.
