Many of my colleagues are now working from home, One of them has an NHS Nurse living next door.
She arrived home tonight at 8pm just as the street came out to clap the NHS. My Colleague had been away from his computer to do this.
When he came back online to explain his absence he said "I have just given the nurse next door "The Clap" ".
While I know what he meant I am still sniggering about it now. :)
I need to get my mind out of the sewer, but I am not sure how or even if its possible after 40 years as an engineer.
;D =D>
A colleague of my wife, a community support worker, went into a Chemist yesterday to pick up some essential items
The handful of customers in the store recognised the uniform and burst into spontaneous applause =D> =D> =D>

Some years back I went into shock as I was told that a friend of mind had got 'Bummed' by the Happy Mondays

Mark, I stopped being an engineer for the same firm in 1989.....And I still find myself occasionally using the same potty mouth language I used there, from time to time. :-[
You've got no chance, now, Mate. ;D

When you've worked in a prison, then we'll talk...
Would a secure unit count ? ;)
The Football Association have avoidd this sort of double-entendre with the term "A minute's applause".
Two engaged lovers were killed in a thunderstorm in the 18th century. Pope celebrated it thus:
Here lie two poor lovers who had the mishap,
Tho' very chaste people, to die of a clap.

Presumably not THE Pope, as I first read it... :o
Personally I'd forgotten about it & was sitting in my living room when I hears the noise. I thought "Bloody hell, you still get drunks wandering aroun... oh... wait a minute!" Then ran out to join them :)
No, though since he was a Catholic and had a knack of making enemies, the pun was made in his time.
Haven't several Popes and hundreds of Priests died of the pox?

The Pope doesn't have the NHS.

No but according to their beliefs they should have no need of the NHS for curing the pox

Interestingly though, it was the confirmed atheist who brought the subject up.
I was quoting a poet who happened to be called Alexander Pope. I deny the charge of steering this chat into religion.
