Lest people think Lee always wins....
The village of Edge Coombe is actually occupied by Huxley's regiment of dragoons. They lent some completely ineffectual shooting support at the end.
In the cavalry melee picture, Tarrington's Regiment of Horse on left is about to break following a charge by the already badly depleted Hopton's Regiment (in red). General Hopton's inspired example leading the charge may have made the decisive difference. In the background, Crowell's Ironsides and Rupert's Lifeguard mauled each other, but the victorious Hopton's regiment turned the rebel flank and ultimately decided the battle in favour of the good guys.
Lord Byron led a well-timed outflanking force on my left, but the Roundheads turned to face in time, and we were fortunate indeed to survive contact. Having lived through the first round, however, the Cavalier horse were no longer hindered by the pikemen....
In picture two, Cromwell and Rubert continue a prolonged engagement. After the shock of an impetuous charge is over, the Parliamentary troops have the advantage of being disciplined, but the commanded shot supporting the Royalists balance that.
The Rebel C-in-C, General Fairfax, personally led Hesselrig's Lobsters into the fight against Byron's force, to relieve Sharrock's foot; sadly for heroism, they were caught up in the defeat of the redcoats. (The Lord General is now His Majesty's guest in Oxford, the Royalist HQ - it's a pretty town in the west of England, though its claims to house an important university need not be taken too seriously).
Photographs are lacking for the foot engagement in the centre. Let it be said that there was a big encounter down the line, and Lee's rebels badly outshot my loyalist royalist foot, though without breaking any in time to save the day.

Commiserations Lee ;)
Congrats Fiercekitty :D.
Both of the above. :)

Looks like a good game and congrats on winning.
Are you at all concerned that Lee, being the tactical mastermind that she is, is letting you win on occasion so as to at least leave you a shed of self esteem, only to crush you in a future engagement?
She points out that even with her pidgin English she knows a shred from a shed. ;D
I heard there was a lot of betting going on on this game....and there are rumours of spot fixing. ;)
Cheers - Phil

Bloody autocorrect. Missed that one. So far in writing this short statement I've had to fix six autocorrect mistakes. Not sure if I just have fat fingers or a rubbish phone but seem to spend more time fixing the auto corrects than writing.
Although for us wargamers, a shed of decency might be a good place...

Rematch this morning.
Give me a chance to contact my bookmaker, to check the odds. ;)
I'll see if there's anything strange being quoted.

Had to be postponed.

'nutha Royalist victory yesterday. It's time I had a winning streak.
The Ironsides of the Eastern Association horse rapidly got the better of Lord Byron's horse; Lee's learned the value of deeper units of cavalry.
The close-up shows one of the infantry engagements in the centre. Brummage's regiment (green) outshooting Mason's (red). One of three such contests, all favouring King Charles, as was right and proper. My shooting dice were far better this time.
An impetuous advance cost me Hopton and musch of his regiment, but Rupert led the Lifeguard, with support from Newcastle's Whitecoats, to destroy the Lobsters, capture Fairfax, and win the battle. Just as well the Roundhead morale broke when it did; my left was about to discover what Cromwell and his Ironsides could do to a turned flank.
Nice looking game Kitty 8)
In ECW games I have played the Royalists always seem to either win spectacularly or else fold disasterously.
Mmm, likewise. And the decisive stroke is always given by the victorious cavalry. Accurate enough, as I recall.

Obviously they were drunk, so hardly surprising.....musch of his regiment, indeed (Shome mishtake shooorly.) ;)
As Peter said....Nice looking game. :)

I think musch was a bit of lah-di-dah Cavalier affectation. Musch have been.
Nice looking game you two!
Congrats. Pity you didn't have a slightly better camera, Kitty (unless it's my computer? but I don't think so) because these look like a whole bunch of well-painted minis. :-bd
You're kind; but maybe my minis look better when photographs are a bit fuzzy!

I would love to see more high res pics of your armies sometime as you seem to have a large variety painted up! Would you ever consider using Imgur or the like to upload images rather than the attachment size restrictions that the forum has?
I have a page on Facebook, Bangkok Gamers. I don't know if the pix there are better?

I failed to find it, though that may be because I've not a Facebook account.

But our pictures are usually taken with a little mobile 'phone, not a Leica.

Seems a Facebook account is required. :(
