Title: Polished
Post by: hammurabi70 on 13 March 2020, 11:25:46 AM
In the 1950s aircraft with the new jet engines seemed mainly to be polished rather than painted.  Can anyone recommend an appropriate paint for this to get the right effect?  I am not sure that SILVER is appropriate but is CHROME SILVER METALLIC better?

Polish up the  model and gloss varnish.

On plastic models I use a 'chrome' spray can for car wheels. You have to be careful on the layers but the effect is great; especially with some panels painted in other metallic colours to represent the different alloys used. I guess the effect on metal models will be similar.
Another option is polishing if you use metal models.

Cheers,
Rob

With a bit of practice and some buffing you can get stunning results with this stuff :)

And a useful little video to show how to use too.
