Title: Ancient Greeks and Persians released!
Post by: Leon on 31 January 2020, 11:16:32 PM
The revamp of our older Ancients ranges continues and this time we've got the eagerly anticipated Greeks and Persians!  As well as updating all of the sculpts, we've also spent a lot of time expanding these ranges to add extra infantry and cavalry types, especially for the Persians.  This gives many more options and also ticks off a few items on our request lists at the same time!

As with the recent Dacians and Sarmatians we'd like to give huge thanks to Will Denham for helping us (and the sculptor!) with these ranges.

Don't forget that our price increase comes in at midnight on Saturday night, so if you fancy any of these, grab them before the prices go up!  We'll also have them with us at the York show on Sunday.

These look superb, well done to all involved! The only thing stopping me ordering them right now is the huge pile of my last order I've not had much chance to touch yet, but definitely going to be high up my list for future project.  :D

I shall certainly be getting some of these during 2020 and beyond.

I can't help but think that the scythed chariot looks a bit ungainly. I would, perhaps, remodel it.

Looks rather more sturdy than its predecessor. I like it.

Very nice! Sadly, my Ancients  are somewhere in a mound, with about 1/3 of the units completed.
However, I do remember doing my Spartans with 1st rank crested helms, 2nd rank un-crested and 3rd just helm and cloak. I did research it a bit at the time...though now, a LONG time ago! I lost interest as I found that the Immortals available at the time were in 'parade' dress and not combat armour...and I needed TOO MANY of them!  ;D

Leon.

I've just had word from my bank.  They asked if you'd delay releasing these for say six months or so?

They are beautiful, but I do have one question, if I may? Why is the guy on the left in Per 1 standing behind a modern low level wc? Just asking!

You should have seen the first image I sent to Leon. X_X  ;D ;D

As far as I was concerned the 'green master' looked like matey was slapping the tombak (Or whichever spelling version you fancy)....But at the angle I took the piccy it looked like someone was cleaning around the inside the rim of a modern loo with his bare hands.

Not my fault that the Ancient Persians had no idea what a modern loo would look like......Idiots. ;)

At least I didn't put a cistern above it. :P ;D

Beautiful sculpts, nice work!

Andrew, I think he is a priest of the thunder bowl cult that was finally flushed out of the East around 300 BC.

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D. And there was me thinking it was where they kept the Holy S..t!     I must confess this joke (?) owes much to a recent posting on facebook involving an angel demonstrating to a novice where the Holy Cow, Holy etc were kept.

I love Persians of all periods, these are a serious temptation.
Although If I bought some I would need to buy the Greeks too...
A slippery slope  :-

He better be careful not to hit that drumskin too hard then, else he would be literally in the ##$%....

Paul came visiting yesterday and I talked to him all too briefly about his DBA project....looking forward to seeing it progress but his goal is no less than 10 complete armies from the Punic War period so it might take a little while  ;)

Lovely sculpts Phil,

Now I need to stop looking as I have enough 10mm to keep me painting until 2022 even if I don't get waylaid doing other scales.

(Yes Lemmy I know you can paint them for me but I am trying to be restrained) ... Note Restraint is not one of my strong points  :D

They would in the big barn.  ;)

I've said before.....there's just enough room to get one of those ridiculously ginormous (Russian ?) tanks in there......Mind you...you'd have problems getting one of those up the 'drive'.

Be no issues finding a parking space in the car park. Just decide where you want to park and pull up there, regardless of what was in the space

Do you ever listen ?  =) =) =)

The sodding enormous tank WOULD just fit in the big barn.....But that's just what I said....There's no way it would be able to get up the drive.....without destroying the house, and the drive....and all the walls between here and the two villages that we're in the middle of...But it would still fit in the big barn.

Cheers - Phil ;)

But you could get it in the barn........ :P
Title: Re: Ancient Greeks and Persians released!
Post by: Techno on 03 February 2020, 04:57:40 PM
Yep.  :P

It would need some sort of frigging massive crane, in the lane.....Take the roof off the barn....and lower it it CAREFULLY into place....But it would fit.

I wouldn't be allowed to do this, though.....Because there wouldn't be enough room for the gees anymore.

I KNOW it's a hell of a lot smaller than this particular tank (by goodness knows how many times)...But when we originally moved here, there was a nice 3 bedroom static caravan in the barn.....That HAD to have been 'craned in'...and the barn built around it......But there was still oodles of room, even with that in there.

There was absolutely no way we could have had had the wretched thing taken out, (simply) without destroying umpteen walls.
We had to have someone round to (basically) destroy the caravan, and take the whole thing away on a flatbed and a big trailer.....We had to pay him..'cos the price of the scrap metal was so low in those days. :'(

Cheers - Phil

S'alright......I've worked out how to get the tank into the barn, with the minimal damage to Techno Towers.

Assuming the tank's coming from London.

M4.....until it becomes the A 48...then A 40.....turn right up the A 478 towards Cardigan...head towards Crymych.....Turn left....across lots of fields......approach Techno Towers, and destroy a few walls....Push through back of barn, without collapsing the roof. Park.

Easy. ;D ;D ;D ;D....Sorted !!

Not unless it's got Donald Sutherland dominating it. Without him, that movie would be all events and no plot.

Later on yes, The EAP - Greek and Persian wars types had Hourglass shaped large shields, later the Kardacees (SP) - Alexandrian time had small crescent shaped ones.
