Title: Further SYW questions
Post by: Not Drowning, Waving on 14 January 2020, 10:57:46 PM
New to the period and had some great responses to earlier queries.  Had two further questions: is the SYW range regarded as complete (I know of no range that is); if not what are the biggest omissions? Secondly is the GNW range compatible? Wanted to mix Russian tricorne poses, and add some (mounted) cavalry.

Thanks in advance.

The SYW also took place in Canada, W. Africa, and India. A few minor "exotics" need to be proxied in Europe too (de Trenck pandours come to mind).

Good point. Perhaps the first true world war according to some observers.

Any knowledge about the compatibility of the two lines?

The two ranges fit together fine, they were sculpted at similar times by the same sculptor.  The only real difference is the cavalry, with the GNW being on some of our older horse dollies and being a bit smaller than the SYW cavalry.

Thanks Leon.
Did I read correctly that photos for the GNW range were in the offing? If so would love to see them, even just the black washed versions.

They're not far off, could be a couple of months though.  I've got the Dark Ages, Late Romans, ECW to do next and then it'll be on to the GNW.

If it helps, Sunjester and I have mixed GNW figures in with our marlburian, although as separate units. They are nice figures and allow you some extra variety in your units

Good to know Orcs. I was also thinking of using some Marlburian figs for an expansion of a GNW project. Would the sculpting of the LofA line match or are they quite different again?

Again we have used LoA figures as separate units.

I guess that is the great joy of 10mm - very hard to see how separate unit compatibility would not exist in PEN ranges. Thanks Orc!
