A few (!) bits I've painted for a commission for the Franco-Prussian War, basing is not my style, but matching some he already has.

Lovely work Will 8).
Looking good! :-bd
Sorry to bring this up Lemmey, but aren't all the limber horse riders on the wrong side?
I went with what was on the website...

I see your problem! Curiously Kev has based the Prussians on the left side horses, and the French on the right! Maybe that explains why the French lost? My understanding was that the riders rode the left hand horses, to allow them to control the right hand horses with their right hands. Cameronian might be able to confirm or refute this!
Might have to file this under "Wish you had told me a week ago!" :o X_X :-& :-t O:-) @-)
Sorry about that! I only really focussed on this some years ago when I was having a large number of limbers and Caissons for the French, Prussians and Austrians done, and did not specify which side the riders should be. The subsequent rebasing has burned this lesson onto my soul!
Oh well... next time I'll know. 8)
Maybe the French made all of their left handers ride the limber horses :)
Like the staggered basing, and the paint job. Inspiration to get back to it.
It's only 12 bases to soak and remake. As I recall it Mollinary had upwards of 40.
A good project while having to self isolate!

British army, ride horse on the left, hand horse on the right, just as Mollinary said.
Too late, off with their owner now.
Those hussars are very nice figures - would they work for WWI, or had uniforms changed by then?
I'll try and remember the limber riders bit - as I have a bunch of WWI limbers to do (at some point) - which might be coming closer
Quite magnificent work and I thought that the bases were superb. I'm usually satisfied with dry-brushing yellow over green Basetex, as it matches my terrain tiles, but may have to reconsider having seen these.
Beautiful work, my compliments!
Cheers,
Rob
