Title: Cruel Seas Beach Landing
Post by: sunjester on 30 November 2019, 07:37:28 AM
On Friday we played another Cruel Seas scenario at the Tring Club. Colin organised an opposed beach landing, the British had to get an undisclosed number of troops onto the beach, escorted by a Flower class corvette and 4 Fairmile D's. The Germans had two bunkers on the beach with a 50mm AT gun in each and 4 S-boats.

Thank you chaps, it was a lot of fun, especially when Orcs ran in front of one of his own torpedoes!

I would like to point out that due to German engineering none of the torpedoes that hit were duds.

However the best score for a torpedo hit was on my own S boat with 4 critical hits and 30 odd points damage with the first 8 of 16 dice.  Because of previous damage I had no need to throw the rest.  :)

Would have thought the torps would run too deep for "S" boats or LCA's - and gunnery was the order of the day.

The LCA's were immune to torpedoes. But there are plenty of accounts of Brits taking out shallow draught craft like lighters and S-boats in the Med.

What about depth charging?

Torpedoes have multiple depth settings

Look Nobby, Be serious for once.   If my crews cannot avoid their own torpedoes, do you really think I should let them loose with explosives they roll off the back :D ??

I don't suppose I'd be let anywhere NEAR a depth charge, with my innate ability for self harm.

Cheers - Phil....(Though I've hardly had any mishaps recently.....apart from grabbing a scalpel by the pointy end....Idiot. =))

Good point.  ;D

There do seem to be a good number of bangs.
