I'm working in 6mm so my bases would be too small at 30x20mm. I would suggest 50 x 30 mm - as per FOW for infantry, and none for vehicles. HQ's - well as you think looks good.

I used the FOW small bases for infantry and the middle sized bases for AT guns etc

There were suggestions in BKC I, which I think were (in mm,1st dimension as "front"):

Infantry - 50x20
Support Weapons - 50x20
HQs - 40x40, CO 50x50
Artillery - 50x50 off board and 40x40 on
Cavalry - 50x20
AFV 30x50
Transport 25x50

I used 40x30 for infantry and support weapons, and based recon on 30x40, my artillery observers are on rounds and my HQs on hexes.  If I were starting again I would use 30x30 for support weapons, especially MGs. and put AT guns on 30x40.

I think base sizes depend on your personal preferences and your figure size!

There are no official sizes in BKC like in other rulesets.

Pete Jones author of BKC WW2 rules began with following in his first edition of BKC using 10/12mm figures:
50mm x 25mm for inf and inf support,
40 x 40mm for ATGs, AA, and HQs,
50 x 50mm for COs,
30 x 50mm for tanks,
25 x 50 deep for other vehicles,
40 x 50mm for Artillery,
50 x 50mm for aircraft (I presume the stand on which he held up aircraft model).

Then he moved over to following with same scale figures in his notes in BKC2 (2nd edition):
Tanks and bigger vehicles not based!
25 x 25mm for inf support, and HQs,
50 x 25mm for inf,
40 x 40mm for COs.

With my 20mm figures I used following:
5x3 cm for inf (3 figures usually per base) although early on I used 4 x 4cm bases with 4 foot figures in 20mm;
4x4cm for inf support weapons including smaller ATGs;
then other base sizes to fit models starting with minimum 4cm width and depth to match model so as ATGs and tanks got bigger in WW2 so did the models and base sizes!
for HQs and COs I used mix of sizes from 4x4cm for simple inf HQ (with 2 or 3 foot figures) to bigger bases like 6x6cm with small vignettes like officers conferring next to command vehicle.

Currently I am starting with 10mm figures and thinking of using 50 x 15mm for my inf and 25mm x 15mm for inf support or 25mm x 25mm for bigger inf support like ATGs and for smaller HQs and bigger bases for bigger vignettes like COs and like Pete Jones not base my tanks.

Greetings

I started off with 10mm Ostfront and based the infantry and heavy weapons on 30 x 30mm bases with 4-5 figures per base.  Vehicle basing varies depeding on size but most AFVs are on 40 x 30mm bases (small T-70s etc on 30 x 30mm).  COs are (now) based on 5cm circles, HQs on 2.5-4cm circles, FAOs on 3cm circles.

My more recently based (still to be painted) Western Desert are on 40 x 20mm for infantry (4 figures), 40 x 20mm for heavy weapons and most infantry support weapons, 20 x 40mm for trucks, 25 x 40mm for most light fighting vehicles (L3/35s on 25 x 25), 30 x 40 for cruiser etc tanks.  Artillery is based as required, usually 30 x 40.  Command based on 5cm circles, HQs on 2.5-4cm circles, FAOs on 3cm circles.

I provide both sides so I'm not too worried about consistency.  The main thing is to be reasonably similar to other potential players in your area.

Regards

Edward
