As 2010 draws to a close, and I start to look at our plans for 2011, what projects does everyone else have planned for this coming year?
buy the dungeon :D and poossibly the booster set too :-\
Christmas money and my winning from the word cup which I havent received yet >:( >:( >:(
AWI Americans for Guilford Courthouse
Scenery for Guilford Courthouse(trees, farsands of 'em)
Build gaming table and modular boards
40k scenery
A couple of 18th Century battalions for the WD3 game next year
Paint all my Space Hulk figures
Something Renaissance in 10mm ?(I just got FoG R for crimbo)
Anything sparkly that comes along
Paint AWI cavalry in Tarletons
I want to do more wargames painting and stop trying to re-invent the wheel :)
I have 28mm Celt army, Imp roman, Ancient Greek, ECW, WW1 brits
I plan on a few entries for Euromilitaire (aim for a commended)
I plan a couple of GW Golden Demon entries (aim for finalist pin)
I have 10mm madist and British (plan to expand both too)
world peace would be nice, but will settle for a healthy year.
FPW (and perhaps related "Europeans shooting one another with rifles" wars) both grand tactical and 1:20 figure ratio will be the big one. Tidying on my SYW, and several planned but never finished for my BKC forces like a cavalry regiment.
My plans for 2011:
- Continue with my 10mm AWI Project. The latest Continental unit in hunting frock is based and once set will be ready for flocking.
I just finished cleaning and prepping a British Grenadier unit as well as the 6lbr artillery and crew as well as the British mounted commanders.
I hope to have enough units finished by next summer to run a few games at local game days and then at MillenniumCon next November.
- Dabble in 1:300 scale WWII air-to-air combat. Bu using prepainted planes I don't have to worry about taking time away from my other painting projects.
- Try to ignore 10mm FPW or any mid-19th century European conflict. I have an old army pack of 1860's Italians around here somewhere that I acquired but never painted for a campaign that never got off the ground. Maybe this time next year...
- Keep putting off my 10mm ACW project. For various reasons my big unpainted pile of ACW is a mish-mash of various manufacturers. I kind of put this on hold as I never really liked the figures that I had until my fairly local game store started stocking Pendraken. I just need to sell what I already have and then go strictly with Pendraken.
- play at least 1 historical miniatures game where I don't have to supply the figures, create the scenario and GM the game.
- Move from a "Cadet" poster to a proper officer!
- Finish at the top of the Pendraken Forum EPL fantasy league :)
1) Finish X Corp Prussians for 1870
1.5) Base up my 1815 15mm Anglo-Allied (to be done at same time as I base X Corp)
2) 1870 Wurttenburg Division
3) 15mm Napoleonics to be expanded to 'new rulesets'
4) Not sure...
To get rid of the last of my 15mm figures (except my HOTT armies)
To get rid of all my remaining 28mm figures.
To build up my 10mm fantasy collection for dungeon crawling and skirmishing.
Hopefully move into 10mm pulp.
Actually manage to get to at least one wargame show (probably Colours or Warfare)
Finish my 10mm POles/KIslev and Ottomans, 15mm and 6mm Rennasiance, yet more 6mm tanks, may even get a 10mm WWII army, and maybe finish the 15mm moderns.
Cheers, drink too muchj and get very ill on FRiday night - ;D
IanS
Purely in 10mm I aim to complete my 100YW/WoR Collection and that Kallistra Castle I bought earlier this year.
Pendraken stuff (all of which I have the figures for but am steadily working on)
Saxons, Vikings and Normans
Medieval Scots, Welsh
TYW Swedes and Imperial Germans
ECW Royalist and Parliamentarian
Samurai
*Cough* :-[MM Minis :-[Cough (all of which I have the figures for but am steadily working on)
Crusader and Arabs
Byzantines, Rus and Carolingian Frankish
I have lodas more in 6mm through to 28mm, but will keep this one on topic!
In 10mm I'd really like a late war BKC British army to go with my US and Germans but that will probably have to wait until I have birthday cash to spend in February.
My dungeon is still only at the undercoat stage and I really want to make progress but there are so many other things going on...
I'm playing in a 15mm HOTT competition on 9th January so I also need to get my army ready for that pretty soon !
Fun, fun, fun...
- Complete my 28mm British Paras for RoE.
- Complete my 15mm Russians for BKCII.
- Complete a few WWI and early WWII tanks, armoured cars and AFVs in 10mm (all Pendraken) for use in AVBCW and also SCW.
- Add a few transports (and paint) for my 10mm SCW and WWII Italians.
- I've made a start on my 15mm Fallschirmjager for a mini-campaign at the club to introduce some members to BCKII. I hope to get them past the black undercoat stage before my mind wanders to other projects.....
After all of the above, I would like to do the following:
- Start a small force for a War of the Roses campaign at the club (I'll be Lancastrians) using the Pendraken packs as a starting point.
- make a start, at least, on my ACW Union and Confederate forces for use with BP.
- Make some progress on completing my early war Brits for use with BCKII.
- At least get a force for use with WMA.
Now, if any of the above get completed I will be a very happy man :).
Steve J.
For 10 mm WW2:
Finish my US Airborne company for D-Day and OMG theater
Make my German Wehrmacht and Para's for D-Day
Make my late US army 10 mm company
Finish the tanks and ordnance for both US and German sides
Continue working on my 10 mm buildings, improve mould making technique, make a series of components to assemble houses from
Make my British company for D-Day and OMG, and add some tanks and ordnance
Finish the first version of the SSOM rules
Present rules at Crisis 2011, set up a 10 mm D-Day game based on Easy Company
For 28 mm Glorantha:
Finish the L&L glorantha personalities
Finish the Colymar riders
Finish the Lunarese, Dara Happans, and Tarsh
For Warhammer:
Paint my giant
Finish my black orcs and green orcs
Finish my WSS - hence the order you just received. Need 2 more artillery packs , plus one to chop to make hit markers, plus casualties and first fire markers (these final bits will allegedly be bought in January).
Vietnam for "Charlie Don't Surf"
Rebase, then add to ACW, placing them all on 30mm bases and increasing density of the figures.
Get back to ECW to actually have two usable armies.
Alledgedly start 10mm Napoleonics with the new 2011 Ranges.
Add more Germans to my 20mm "TW&T" forces.
More 25/28 French for "Sharpe Practice"
This maynot be all done in the next 12 months, but then that's then me finished painting forever!
Hmmm 2011..Well firstly to actually get all my stuff which is currently sitting in the middle of the Indian Ocean somewhere
I would like to get some 10mm Baroque Armies for Impetus done plus after looking at Pruneau blog have a long look at Runequest again as its whawe started playing with many many many years ago
this is one of those topics that we will look back in on 12 months time and go "yeah I did none of those...but look at this cool shiney thing here!!"
For next year Id love to finish my early Germans for FOW (10mm obviously :P) and my friends Russians so I have an opponent. Get at least one of my characters in WoW to lvl 85 before they up the lvl cap again and hopefully get back in doing freelance miniature photography as its been to long since my last work.
Plus theres the usual gym membership to be buy and all that other crap :) HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
For WoW, the easiest (and laziest) way to get your char to lvl 85 is doing Archeology, crazy I know, but I was getting 100k xp a digsite (and the occasional epic), so if you cba doing those quests or running instances this is the way I got my huntard to 85 in 5 days. Best of luck. ;D ;D

Well…I’m still in the early stages of my 10mm ACW project. So my plan is to focus on that for most of the year. I need about 300 stands of union infantry and 200 stands of confederate infantry done by July so I can re-fight 1st Bull Run around its anniversary date. I’m also hoping to do more gaming this year.
Right, here goes:
- Finally finish my WW2 US and German armies. But is there such a thing as a finished army?
- Get some more games played with these, as well.
- Paint (and play with) the dungeon I bought at Crisis. Maybe get some extra bits as well.
- Spend less time at the computer and more time painting. 2010 wasn't a bad year painting wise (for me, at least), let's see if it holds.
- Decide what I want to do with some of the (painted and unpainted) stuff that's been lying around for years.
- Marvel at Pruneau's display at Crisis 2011. 8)
Modest plans, I know, but I'd be happy enough if this works out alright.
Greetings
In 10mm:
- paint my 10mm Western Desert forces and use for BKC II
- paint my SYW forces and add to them (I laid out my unpainted French on the table today and confirmed I'll need a lot more after they are painted)
- continue to round out my 1943 Ostfront forces as needed
- hopefully paint some of my 1870 figures
- maybe test out the forthcoming 1809 range
Other scales
- paint a couple of DBA 15mm armies
- finish painting a 15mm WW2 British for Normandy at 1:1
- paint 15mm Ghurkas for a Burma game in July
- paint some 28mm ACW for skirmishing
- add some 1/600 WW2 aircraft
- rationalise everything else I've got :-)
Regards
Edward
2011 :
Play more games and take more photos (better ones)
Pester CLIB for more AWI figures ( tarletons )
Push for some tea drinking brits :) (WW2)
Resist the temptation to fund another period of gaming
Create more terrain for my WW2 and AWI games.
Enjoy this year more than last......
and anything else I forgot :)

Eek, pressure ;)
Start a new era gaming and build/paint from the very beginning my SYW´s armies... m/
Mmmm..an interesting question.
To finish: -
- SYW Austrians & Prussians.
- Napoleonic French & Austrians (nearly there).
- WW2 Russians & Japanese.
- Warmaster Medieval French Ordonnance
To start: -
- Ancient Greeks, Britons & Romans. I have to get a warmaster ancients army completed this year, at least.
- SYW French.
....and I'm not going to try and deny it.....buy a lot more miniatures this year. "Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose" :D
A new plans had to be formed:
Stage 1: escape from hospital, but whilst here peruse the catalogue to decide on spendyness.
Even more SYW! :)
to finish Austrians,
to start Russians.
to start Spanish and North America
Finish Marlburians
Western theatre of 1866 Campaign
League of Augsburg
Then maybe some Napoleonics.
Chad
Sell my 28mm British Naps, I spent some time over Christmas finishing off their bases , replacing flags and generally making them tempting. They should generate sufficient cash to kep me in 10mm lead until the summer.
10mm projects are finish the 7YW French (only about 6 battalions of infantry to go) then the Prussians, with a bit of luck I might be playing by this time next year. =)
In between I need to roll out a lot more WW1 French infantry.
My big Resolution is to paint everything I already have before buying anything else - and then go crackers on WW2 10mm. I might just have to buy a few samples though.........

If you're nearby, you can always pop into Pendraken HQ and have a look at some stuff?
After many years of flitting from one project/scale etc to another I have actually made a plan for the first 6 months of this year to get various battlegroups finished. Deadlines have been set around the various shows I attend and additional units will only be purchased if I am on target. First show is Cavalier at the end of February and the aim is to complete a British and German Battalion for BKC plus a few scenic items, reward for completing is a Sherman Squadron. These and some other bits and pieces will need to be done by To the Redoubt in July (if it's on this year) in order to get more which may well be something completely new. By then I will have a new plan for the second half of the year with SELWG in October as a target. Alls sounds a bit regimented but needs to be done as I've been getting no-where fast for far too long now.
2011 will see me finishing every Pendraken Miniature I have amassed to date - plus more I`m bound to collect this year.
Starting with the Pendraken Scenery (roads, hedges, houses, etc), moving on through all my unpainted ECW, Jabobite, and Fantasy minis... I`m going to box up all my other scale things and store them away (thousands upon thousands of 28m figures and terrain); and I`ll concentrate on 10mm pretty much exclusively (not counting my boardgames or my Pax Limpopo Steampunk and Pulp).

This year is going to be different from every other year, :-\ :-\, I am NOT going to be sidetracked, I WILL paint to completion the 2 Punic War armies that are winging their way to my doormat. I WILL paint to completion the WotR army coming my way, I WILL finish my 2 AWI armies, and I WILL paint all the bits and bobs that are lounging about in my Pendraken odds drawer. The only purchases I'm allowing myself until that lots done is a single squad (and APC) for my TW platoon, but even then 1 squad will have to be completed before I order another.
and if you believe that then I suspect that you still believe in the tooth fairy.
you can follow my lack of progress here http://gordonsgaming.wordpress.com/
Gordon
I WILL paint to completion the 2 Punic War armies
Ooooh the Punic Wars, the strings of purse and all that... I`m almost jealous. Happy painting and gaming :-)
Complete my 10mm WSS forces (5 cavalry/draggon units on the painting table to go, then buy and paint 1 cuirassier unit and 4 units of dismounted dragoons).
Avoid getting sidetracked into expanding my WSS to do the GNW or other nearby conflicts.
Dither over whether or not to add Spanish to WSS (I don't need them....but look, infantry in purple jackets!!!)
Finish 10mm Early War Germans, when Pendraken bring out the rest of the figures.
Ditto 10mm BEF, 8th Army and Afrika Korps.
Consider expanding 10mm Italians as Pithead are looking at bringing out some nice stuff this year that Pendraken do not do.
Complete 10mm Germans and Brits for Italy 43/44
Finish 20mm Germans for TW&T

Continue to identify Top Totty on a regular basis 8)

Consolidation:Sell everything that I've not touched in 12 months and won't touch in next 3 - and be ruthless with this!
Start painting SWY figures and learn how to play with it.
A one man job, I have no one to play with, in my country... yet ;)
"Mine - subject to change at the drop-of-a-hat of course"
You and me both!!! Having perused the Pendraken catalogue picked up at Nikfest, the British Colonial 1899-1905 range has really piqued my interest!
Phase 1 of plan suceeded ... escaped hospital, leg still attached..... :D

sell lots of stuff

Now that's a good idea...hmm... :-\
It'd be cool to do this as a skirmish...or as big battles...decisions, decisions!

Although the DVD

I bought it just before Christmas and handed it to the Mrs, so she wrapped it nicely and gave it to me as my present ;)
How are people getting on?????
Here's my progress... not including anything thats not 10mm I have got through the following:

Purely in 10mm I aim to complete my 100YW/WoR Collection and that Kallistra Castle I bought earlier this year... like that will EVER be completed as I just keep adding to the collection! :-[ I'd also forgotten I had that castle so must dig it out!
Pendraken stuff (all of which I have the figures for but am steadily working on)
Saxons, Vikings and Normans - Saxons and Normans FINISHED
Medieval Scots, Welsh - NOT STARTED
TYW Swedes and Imperial Germans - added to AND FINISHED
ECW Royalist and Parliamentarian - undercoated and based
Samurai - dont ask... embarassingly still in its bags!
*Cough* :-[MM Minis :-[Cough (all of which I have the figures for but am steadily working on)
Crusader and Arabs - Just started
Byzantines, Rus and Carolingian Frankish - still all in its bags!!
I have lodas more in 6mm through to 28mm, but will keep this one on topic!
I am making excellent progress on a number of projects that have nothing to do with the projects I thought I would do 8 months ago.
Lets see, 75% of the way through the year
Finish my WSS - hence the order you just received. Need 2 more artillery packs , plus one to chop to make hit markers, plus casualties and first fire markers (these final bits will allegedly be bought in January).
This has been expanded further. Is now topping out at 18 Infantry units (36 men) which are all done, and 14 Cavalry (12 men) of which 8 are done, 3 half finished but actively being dressed, and 3 waiting. These are to be finished by the start of December, along hopefully with 18 first fire markers, and various casualties. Have 7 Generals markers, plus 1 C in C in carriage. May add some dismounted dragoons. Anything after the cavalry are finished are bells and whistles, but definately on the home stretch.
Vietnam for "Charlie Don't Surf" Next up after the WSS. After 36 man Bns, 120 men a side moderns will hopefully be a lot easier (I painted 3 36 man bns in 2 days, so Olive drab should be easy!)
Rebase, then add to ACW, placing them all on 30mm bases and increasing density of the figures. Rebased. Need to add more as only 24ish bases per side now. They have gone from 3 on a 1 and 1/8 inch by 3/4 inch to 7 on a 30mm square.
Get back to ECW to actually have two usable armies. Not touched - blame the WSS (the biggest army I have ever done)
Alledgedly start 10mm Napoleonics with the new 2011 Ranges. Kids have dipped their toes in
Add more Germans to my 20mm "TW&T" forces. Bought from Plasitic Toy Soldier Coy
More 25/28 French for "Sharpe Practice" No. Decisions on numbers of French and basing for both sides need to be made.
This may not be all done in the next 12 months, but then that's then me finished painting forever! In General this is still the aim, though I expect to be continually tacking stuff on over the years.
Hello,
Continue with researching the 2nd Anglo-Boer War before commiting to purchasing the range in 10 mm. Oh and "Kop That" when its released will be handy.
Continue with my 28 mm WW2 South-West Pacific Japanese and USMC Raiders.
Paint up 28 mm vignettes of periods of my choosing from various companies an adding scenics where required ... as these can be used for future games.
Ciao,
Helen
Finished Marlburian for the moment. Imperials/Palatinate next, but switching periods for the moment.
Starting 1866 soon - Western Theatre. Will take some time.
Would also be starting 1859, but no Guard Voltigeurs command.
Crimea - Alternative to 1859 but again will be on hold awaiting command as above.
C'est la vie.
Chad
Good idea to check how far people have gotten with their painting / gaming plans.
My SSOM rules are on schedule, table for Crisis is reserved, rules are being tested in the club, and I'm painting the 'last few' Germans :D so my WWII stuff is on target.
My RQ miniatures are advancing very well, but I have been ordering so many extra characters - thay have all been painted, mind you - that there is a slight delay. Still, the biweekly RPG session is motivating enough to keep me painting whenever I have a bit of time, and I am getting better at having lots of short sessions: before if I did not have a few hours at once, I would not bother, but I found it works way better to paint every day, even if just 30 minutes. i have reorganized my hobby room to make that possible.
Warhammer i have not advanced one bit. no time nor interest.
Okeydokey - update:
Pendraken:
Jacobite Rebellion: paint both forces - um...well, they're undercoated :(
Sudan: complete, assemble & paint both forces...um... :(
Indo-China: complete, assemble & paint both VM & French Paras - um...well, they're undercoated :(
Dungeon: fantasy & 'Mummy' pulp & Cthulhu: complete, assemble & paint more - um...
WW2: Stalingrad: buy, assemble & paint both forces - aha! Germans painted, Russians next...
WW2 Pacific theatre; USMC & Japanese - woohoo! Both painted :)
Crusades: buy, assemble & paint both forces a la "Kingdom of Heaven" - Arabs done, Crusaders ready 8)
Napoleonics: avoid doing 1812 Moscow campaign...Yahoo - succeeding!
Develop annual 'secret' project - still secret
Paint whatever Leon & Dave want painting for displays / website etc - um, bit behind with some scenics...
Continue to identify Top Totty on a regular basis - mostly succeeding although needs further attention
Have also bought FPW armies & stuff for VBCW...
Other:
28mm Napoleonic skirmish: paint British Line Infantry & French Voltigeurs [Rifles, Spanish Guerillas & Clergy already done] - done the French, decided not to do British line
Consolidation:
Sell everything that I've not touched in 12 months and won't touch in next 3 - and be ruthless with this! - not been quite as ruthless...
God, I can't remember my plans for this year. I have however been very ruthless and have sold off or am in the process of selling off stuff that I simply never play with. This has allowed me to focus on games that I really enjoy playing (BKCII and stable mates) and to make progress on my 10mm lead pile.
The only downside is that it has released cash that is allowing me to add to said lead pile!

1) Finish X Corp Prussians for 1870 done, split into two batches, large division done earlier in the year, odds and sods finished now - just got to flock the bases
1.5) Base up my 1815 15mm Anglo-Allied (to be done at same time as I base X Corp) Oh them, yeah, done!
2) 1870 Wurttenburg Division Just flocking too
3) 15mm Napoleonics to be expanded to 'new rulesets' NOT happening, using what we've got and waiting for 10mm 1806 Prussians
4) Not sure... Turned out to be rather lovely Pendraken AWI, really happy with these, just flocking these too (okay, so I do large batches of flocking!), and some halflings :D
Which leaves me:
5) 15mm village and 80 trees that I painted and based for a Flames Competition
and now I can go onto...
6) French VI Corps (order for 2nd Division to go in for Warfare)

success. I'm now a 2nd lt.
- Finish at the top of the Pendraken Forum EPL fantasy league :)
close but no cigar. After leading for a number of weeks I couldn't hold on in the end and placed 2nd. I'm moving up the table in the current campaign though!
i also added WWII US paratroopers which I'm painting for a friend and am also starting early war French and Germans
Howdy Shecky,
Ever thought about gaming 1848-49 Italian and Hungarian revolts?
You are a stronger man being able to shelf ACW for another time :D =D>

Nothing pendraken wise to update but tick the MM Crusaders off my list ;) Just got to tart up the bases and then make a start on the opponents.
Also got through a bit of weird war 28mm stuff and have some 28mm Vikings and Anglo-Danes for SAGA on order
10mm 7YW French finished
10mm 7YW Prussian 50-60% done
10mm WW1 French 90% done - just 1 battalion of Infantry and a couple more tanks.
10mm Eyptians 90% done but I've beem plodding away with this for about 3 years.
Lots of odd units to add size and flexibility to a number of 10mm ancient armies
A few 28mm WW1 British, French and Germans.

Well,
I've managed to sell off all my 15mm figures - then got tempted by some Critical Mass figures. #-o
I've sold off quite a few 28mm figures but still have some left. :!!
10mm fantasy collection growing and being painted very gradually. :-w
Got some cultists done but still need to do the goodies. :-w
Got to Colours! :>
So to summarise....Must try harder!
I mean to get a big eastern European Diplomacy-style 17th century campaign going.
I managed to almost complete my almohade army :)
