I had to rush in to the Immigration Offices today to do an almost overdue 90-day check in as a resident foreigner; slow, arduous, and useless activity. But then I was welcomed home by THREE packets of shinies (Pendraken, supplemented by Kallistra and Magister Militum). Just when my morale needed a lift, the industry came through. Thank you, thank you....
Much like the Corvidae, we here celebrate each acquisition of small shiny things. Caw! Caw!
An apt comparison; the bulk of my order were Vikings, for whom those birds are important.
There aren't 'arf a lot of corvids around here. :o (All sorts)
Driving through the local village a short while ago there were SO many on the telephone lines, it genuinely looked like a scene from 'The Birds'. Hundreds and hundreds of them.
I think they must have been rooks....But I hadn't realised there were anything like THAT many in the area.
Cheers - Phil
An attempted murder?

Yes.......But that's the collective noun for
crows.Tsk. ;)
I have seen a 'conspiracy' of ravens, over here, on a single occasion...where one poor bugger was in the middle of a circle of said birds.
It was obviously 'poorly' and the others were basically trying to kill it....(From owning chickens...and seeing some of the ailments they can suffer from, I can say with some certainty that it was suffering from 'wry neck'.)
Thinking I was doing the right thing, I rescued it from all the others.....But it only lived for a couple of days more....So I was probably doing the wrong thing in not letting nature take is course.
Cheers - Phil

Insert hilarious comment about pecking at the corpse of democracy...Although in reality rooks mostly feed on worms and other invertebrates - it's the long, stabby beaks you know :-B - and the detritus of motorway service stations - where the longs, stabby beaks are again handy ;)
Maybe it was a planning committee to extend the M4 further West :-\

And owls, as well, apparently.
You have to wonder where some/all of these collective nouns originated......
Some of them just seem plain waffy. ;D

An argument of wargamers.
A vendetta of TMPers.
This one could run & run. ;D ;D ;D

A muddle of MPs?
A confusion of Corbynistas?
A cupidity of Conservatives?
A liability of Liberals?
A groan of Greens?
A nuisance of Nationalists?
A farago of Faragists?
A bewilderment of Brexiteers?
A plague on all their houses :)
A thousand plagues on all their houses. ~X( ~X( ~X(

A body of pathologists
A platitude of politicians
A paradise of pendrakeners.
A whiff of wargamers.
A pomposity of pundits.
A pustule of politicians.
A ward of Welsh sculptors
Ward? :-\ .... was thinking a blood bath of Welsh sculptors ....
.... or maybe, a carnage of Welsh Sculptors .....
As in Emergency Ward and Life Support Section; gurneys and IV drips, screens with unsteady green lines travelling left to right, people in green gowns shouting "Give this man forty ccs of cetrazine, quickly, damn it!" and "Get her to surgery fast!", and "Not you again, Phil", and such things.

He's right, you know! No flies on ML.
Maybe it's Monday in Wales. I spent 10 months in Aberystwyth at the Library College. Time moves strangely in Wales :)
Oh Yeah. ;)

You were only supposed to put your clocks back an hour, Phil ...... not a day! ;D ;D ;D
But Wales is a century behind the rest of the UK, and Northern Ireland 2 centuries back, as well as only ever saying NO !

Used to be a joke when the Herc put approached RAF Aldergrove - " Gentlemen, we are landing in Northern Ireland, be aware of timezone differences. Please put your watches back 300 years to 1690"
