Noteworthy because a) the Romans have got some new Alan allies; and b) I want comments on the base cloth - see piccies below.
Waiting... :!!
Youse never wuz patient Will ;) ;)
Well, my Huns had good omens at the start, and these weren't lying....
Fewer action pictures today; things ended fairly quickly when Aetius got drawn into a cavalry scrap too far ahead of his foot. The Roman artillery shot up one unit of Hunnic light horse rather seriously, but that was the one success for the good guys.
You mean you won !!!!!! :o
It happens sometimes. :)
Opinions were being sought on the subject of a more "textured" cloth.
I like the cloth, but I think it would benefit from another colour, something between the sand base and the darker patterns.
Hmmm. I'll have a look at the local model shops.
I think a lighter colour than the sand, randomly sprayed over it would lessen the bright yellow effect I'm seeing on my screen.

A good point. FK, do you think the photo does your cloth justice?
I have a green fleece mat that always seems to look purple in photos.
Some pix came out more yellow, some more orange. The reality may be a bit lighter.
What type of lighting do you have, over the table, Alexander ?
You might have a colour correction 'facility' on your camera/phone....That sometimes helps.

Little fluorescent spirals in ceiling sockets.
OK.....Know the type.
What about the camera/phone ?
Does that have the capability of 'playing/correcting' the light temperature ?

She says I should tell you she's using iPhone6, and doesn't know.
Got my spouse visa today. I am now officially here as a bedfellow, not as a teacher.

Neither do I. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Apple keep trying me to buy the latest iPhone...which I haven't got the
slightest interest in...They just keep pestering me because I bought another iPod three years ago.

Congratulations FK!
Thanks. It feels good not to be at the whim and mercy of a capricious and idiotic employer, and merely at the whim and mercy of a...oh, she's reading over my shoulder....an intelligent and cultivated and decent and attractive spouse.
;D ;D ;D
Congratulations

You forgot understanding and forgiving and (usually) victorious...
Congrats!

Nice one mate
Purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
Today I'm playing the Romans.
We've actually outscouted the Huns. That's most unusual.
How ????
We've caught them in a fairly rough and bosky area, so out LI have earned their rations today.
German mercs broken on first contact by Ostrogoths. :(
Fortunately, the legions held together well, and our cataphracts broke the Hunnic nobles and chased them and Attila off the field. Final result was an indecisive Roman victory. Frankish allies have their uses.
The Romans got a bit of useful terrain; cavalry-proof scrubland which isolated a probing force of Hunnic LC; when the Frankish allies and the Roman lights nutcrackered these, it could go only one way.
We had our bad luck too. The Alans were the right troops in the right place with the wrong dice, and the Ostrogoths crunched them up; while the Visigoths on the far right fell victim to Hunnic archery and numbers.
The guards foot did well, however, pelting the hostile Franks with darts and cutting them up effectively with smallarms despite a dangerous Hun attack in their rear. This time Lee's dice let her down very badly. Also note cataphracts and Aetius seeing off the Hun nobles; Attila himself was taken in the pursuit, though it may be that Aetius would have chosen to release him.
We were in the Netherlands a few months ago. I think Lee's learned something about lighting and composition from Dutch artists.
Note extensive proxying in the Hunnic army. Gepids are Pendraken Picts, Alans are Copplestone Rohirrim, Huns are Pendraken Mongols, and Franks are largely Magister Militum dark ages axemen of some sort. Many of the Goths started life under other banners too.

And one more time. The Siamese person is getting really keen on Huns...a bit worrying, really...
Halfway through round one; Aetius has been killed in a single combat, and King Widimer of the Ostrogoths has been transfixed with a catapult bolt.

Agreed.....On both points !

Hmmmph....dam' silly way to spend Sunday afternoon, when a man should be considering the state of his immortal soul....
After spearing the Patrician, the Great Khan, God rot his dice, held back in the centre and threw in two strong cavalry wings. My response was less than optimal; the Palatine legions were very lazy about getting into action.
My Sarmatians lost their shooting match against Lee's, though shooting the Ostrogothic king with a catapult was some comfort. The white-plumed guards infantry had some absurdly lucky rolls with their darts, and a unit of barbarian cavalry skedaddled (though they rallied later).
I thought I had it here, but a recurring pattern was that outflanked enemy units didn't notice they were being attacked, as I rolled a string of ones.
Ouch
Well done Lee :) =D>
Don't encourage her!
