Title: Base Sizes for 10mm
Post by: far4ngn on 17 September 2019, 04:12:04 AM
As I don't yet own the new rule book can someone tell me the standard base sizes for infantry, artillery and support weapons.

Thanks
Paul

Base sizes aren't that important in BKC.

The conventions listed in the rules are
50x25mm for infantry
25x50mm for vehicles
50x50mm for command

I use 50x30mm for infantry, and 30x50mm for vehicles, a 25mm can be quite narrow for tanks.
I also use 40x40mm for HQs, saving 50x50mm fo COs

We use 30mm frontage with depth as needed for all units. Infantry are 30mm x 30mm

How would 40mm round do for basing 10mm?

Its usable,  but I'd reserve it for commanders

It would work fine for infantry and guns. Not sure it would be great for vehicles, as for a lot it will be a bit short, and it will be very wide for all of them. For smaller vehicles (jeeps etc) you could probably get a couple of vehicles on a base.

The problem with round is there is no defined front edge.  A straight edge is needed for determining firing zones, flanks, etc.  Save round bases for command units; COs, HQs, FAOs, and FACs. Those units have No need for frontage.  It also makes it easier to distinguish them from regular troops.
