For some strange reason, when I add the Pendraken website to my favourites list it adopts the Baccus logo. Any ideas folks?
Nope, mine shows the Pendraken 'P'.

That's slightly odd! We do share the same web developer and server space, so there could potentially be a clash in the system somewhere. Strangely I don't get a 'P' on my bookmarks, I get the BT swirl logo...
What's a favourites list, when it's at home ?
Being a computer numpty....I don't use this high tech stuff ! :P :P

Like a Bookmark, so a list of the sites that you've saved to come back to regularly. I have all of the work ones on the toolbar at the top of my browser for ease of clicking about.
You know what's coming, Chief....... :P
What's a bookmark ?
(I don't use any of 'this stuff'....and am probably oodles happier for that) :P :P :P :P :P :P)
Cheers - Phil..(Who doesn't do Faceache...Twitter....Youtube and all the rest.....Life's far too short. :D)

What's a bookmark ?
It's a stored list of websites that you visit regularly, so depending on which browser you use they're called bookmarks or favourites. When you're on a site, so the Pendraken Forum as an example, there should be a menu somewhere for you to add that site to your saved list. In Firefox, it's in the 'Bookmarks' menu at the top, for Explorer it's through the Star icon in the top right, in Chrome it's through the 3-dots icon in the top right.
There's usually an option to then have them listed on a toolbar at the top of your browser, so you can just click them and away you go to that site.
Well here it is, and Techno, this is what my favourites menu looks like:
(https://scontent-lht6-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/69844382_170275857465016_4712707604894187520_n.jpg?_nc_cat=102&_nc_oc=AQlNnUDlkp_8wggfmQRMl2cDE75wiA-i-fmQwraABEJG50dEIUPzcAT8sIEhxQTm4z8TEP8m8OqU0n6gAb0pz__h&_nc_ht=scontent-lht6-1.xx&oh=26a3553b9fa0451ab12c985685ba505e&oe=5E112DF2)
Thought it would look more like this:
https://www.claridges.co.uk/restaurants-bars/afternoon-tea/
No, more like
www.barneysamsterdam.com
Ahem.....Right then.
The only 'sites' that I visit on any remotely frequent basis are.....
Here (obviously)...
Radio 4 extra's schedules
BBC News
BBC Weather
My Gmail account.
That's it.
I also do a 'complete' delete after every visit to the net...so I assume it would take any 'favourites' or bookmarked links away.
Cheers - Phil

What do you mean by that Phil? Does it mean every time you visit a site (like the forum, or gmail) you have to type your username and password in again? And why do you think it helps?
I really can't see what you gain by doing this. If you don't want sites to track you as easily, you can get the same effect by opening an Incongito tab in your browser - exactly how varies by browser, but in Chrome its by clicking the 3 dots, and choosing the option from the menu.

I used to worry about this sort of thing, now I don't really care who knows what sites I have been visiting! Being so boring allowed me to laugh out loud when I received an e mail claiming they had planted malware on my computer via an 'adult website' I had visited, and threatening to reveal all to my entire contact list unless I instantly sent them money. ;D ;D ;D ;D
Ctrl+Shift+N will open incognito too. But all it does is prevent saving of cookies and history and the like once you close the window. Won't stop any nefarious spies from tracking everything you do. Cause the government needs to know every site that every person visits. It's a matter of national security...and the children, won't someone please think of the children!
As to the original issue, you can sometimes go into the options for a bookmark and refresh it or set the logo, depending on the application. Could try deleting it and readding?
I'm just waiting for the day Phil updates his username to Technophobe.

So you could have those 5 sites/locations set up as Bookmarks, and when you turn on the computer you'd just click the bookmark rather than having to type in the website address each time. Remembering logins and passwords is a separate issue and you can still choose to not 'remember' those for when you return. The bookmarks would be kept as they're essentially quick-click roadmaps straight to a particular site, not a cookie that's tracking your activity.

Absolutely. But if all Phil is doing is manually clearing his cache and cookies, which is what it sounds like. Then using incognito / private browsing achieves the same.
I'm not sure there is much benefit to either.
I'd rather have sites I frequent remember me and bring up my details.
If you want to get really fancy you could set those bookmarks as your startup pages so every time you open your browser it'll auto open those pages in different tabs!
Nah.....
Don't worry....I'm perfectly happy 'doing things' the way I do. :)
(Alright I DO, and did, understand the principles of bookmarks etc. :D...I just can't be bothered....and as Von clears all her browsing after she's used the net herself...everything would get cleared for both of us.)
All I do is 'Google' the site I'm after, and click on that.....Only takes a few seconds more...and I really don't mind 'tryping' my password each time.
Cheers - Phil :)
Madness, that would drive me up the walls. Having to put in passwords manually and Google things every time... Life is too short for all those wasted seconds! :P
You can even set up different profiles on the browser so your stuff is kept separate from Vons.
What is it they say about old dogs...

I'll let someone more technically competent say if I'm talking out my posterior, but isn't the Google then click option far more risky than typing in the actual address because hackers can insert fake results?
Firefox has a nice interface/home page which remembers your most regular websites and displays them rather than having to bookmark anything these days.
Cheers!

Hmm, I never have any passwords saved within my browser. Different strokes and all that.

I've been learning 'new tricks' for the past couple of weeks, as well as making the wee men. ;)
Leon and Will...and one other, know I've been honing completely different skills...and thoroughly enjoying it. :)

Von's been getting what looks like a 'dodgy' Facebook page (on occasions).....and she types in the email addy, rather than my 'Google' method....So I don't think
anything's 'bomb proof'.

Good man!
