Today I'm insisting on an 18th century scrap. Lee's getting a bit too sure of herself....
'Bout time you won one !! :)
Cheers - Phil
Go Lee ;) :d
Here's an idea: have a go at an ACW battle and you go Lee.
Phew. Won, but I might as well have left my artillery in Berlin.
The first shot of the battle drove my skirmishers out of a useful village by setting it on fire. Fortunately, my carefully reserved cuirassiers were to prove useful in the later battle (though not as useful as they would have been had the dice not rolled steadily against Prussia). It was amusing that I'd just assured Lee that cavalry were still dangerous even in a modern battle like this, "as I shall now show you." Following those rash words, I saw the Garde du Corps beaten off in melee by a line of Hungarian fusiliers.
The scrap on the other side of the stream saw serious casualties on both sides. Commendations to the von Bayreuth dragoons, who lived up to their reputation.
A well-timed charge by my hussars caught the Austrian artillery off guard, but was beaten off in melee. And this although Freddy had somehow got involved in the charge. Hiss growl spit.
The Prussian infantry did what they're good at in the middle, though the Austrians put up a brave fight. Lee's getting good at concentrating her fire. Fortunately, she hasn't quite learned how to coordinate the three arms yet, and you don't start winning horse and musket battles until you've got that one right.
Looking good FK
Having a go at Kolin next week. In many ways this is THE horse and musket period: there is a real balance between the three arms and cavalry are not pretty but useless. Good to see another SYW game here, particularly as the Pendraken range is such a good one.
Agree; excellent range.
p.s. I've been to Kolin. :)
Good looking game about time you won one
Take care

One day so must I. Czech Republic is a must for battlefields and pretty scenery.
Agreeable people when you get to know them, the women are cute and the men goblin-like (useful!), and I'm told the beer is superb.

True enough.
So....What's the score in recent games, against your good lady ?
Are you pushing for the title....or fighting against relegation ? ;)
Cheers - Phil ;)
I suspect that keeping score in a marriage is a shortcut to the divorce court.
=O =O =O =O =O =O
Good answer, Alexander !!!!
Cheers - Phil
Lee demands a rematch. I've been seriously outscouted by those wretched Hungarians and Croats. Uh oh, as we Prussians say.
Good luck mate
Take care
Andy
I think scheisse might be a more appropriate response.
We'd probably be swearing in French.
:'(
Off-table flank march; Frederick himself is out of it, and our morale is not looking good. Remind me not to play on Friday 13th again!
Oh, dear....
Well at least you got one...
And Frederick does have a habit of bouncing back - a bit like Alan Partridge I suppose.
Here they come.
My advance. I was being quite aggressive, knowing from a glance that the Austrian shortage of cavalry could only mean an off-table flank march. But I also knew there was only one place where it could have come on - idiot that I am, I took no precautions.
I kept a reserve of veteran cuirassiers, true to my beliefs. But not facing the looming danger.
The Prussian skirmishers have rifles; I was hoping to bag an Austrian commander before things got heated. But the rules don't let skirmishers stand their ground in good going when it's clear they're in danger of being ridden down, so those Hungarian hussars sent them running.
And here you can see the crack in the Prussian line. Since Frederick was captured, the whole army had to test morale, unit by unit; it was clear after this that we didn't have a chance.
I think the only hope is to redefine 'winning'...
I'll try that.
Golf rules, lowest score wins?
Is it a subconscious ting - you are playing to lose cause you are playing Lee ?
You give me credit for being more of a gentleman that I am, I fear. Sadly, she's getting too dam' good at it.

Revenge time. We're setting up....
We'll await the inevitable, then. ;)

Go Lee ;) :D
He's gone very quiet about the latest battle. :-\
I'd have thought we'd have heard something by now.....Unless.........
Cheers - Phil :-$
It seemed more considerate not to parade Lee's shame before the world. This time I was more careful, and Prussia's back in the catbird seat.
Ah, and I'm employed again. :)
Thanks. A bit intimidated, actually - I've been enjoying being a freeloading dependent.
Best of luck in the 'new job', Alexander !! :)
Cheers - Phil
Seconded :)
Thanks, comrades. :)
Good luck chap
Today I'm taking the Austrians. Long live the Empress! Vivat nostra rex Maria Theresa! (the bad Latin is not an oversight).
Good luck

Andy
It's looking like an extremely bloody draw.
Much better than a defeat
Take care
Andy
It would have been better than the defeat it turned into. :'(
Lee, well done again =D> =D> =D>

Dearie, dearie me. ;)
