Not sure where to best post this, so picked this thread. I am in great need of an owl figure in 15, 20 or 28 MM scale. Does anyone know if there is one available?
Thanks,
Terry
Reaper Miniatures Dark Heaven familiars was my first thought, I'll continue to rack my brains for alternatives

Stonehaven miniatures do this one

Last one I can think of is the Wizkids one

Sorry to invade this thread, but where should I look for 15mm scale monsters that work well with 10mm? I'm looking forward to convert a knight riding on a griffon.
I do know that Alternative Armies has some damn good looking 15mm monsters in their HOT range.
Also where can you find those wizkids miniatures? Wayland Games is saying Out of Production.
Polar Fox do a 10mm scale Hippogriff-riding king for 16 euros plus postage

who comes with half a dozen pegasus knights ... or a dozen if you order the female sorceress too.
Any of that any good?
I think I've seen those before! They do look excellent, especially the pegasus knights.
However I feel that the griffon should have smaller wings and a bulkier body. (Dont know why that is, maybe I'm corrupted by some other fantasy depiction of those creatures)
Also, has anyone got any experience dealing with Polar Fox? It's from Russia, our arch enemy.

The GW wood elf plastic set came with an owl in it. I may still have 1-2 of these.
Polar Fox, I bought a bunch of stuff from then a while back, absolutely no problems.
Thank you all for the great leads. I have ordered the Reaper pack and plan to have the owl sitting on my Aztec Demon of the Underworld's shoulder if it'll fit. To the Aztecs, the owl was considered to be the "Bringer of Death".

And for mice and shrews!
...And why are owls considered wise ?
When there was a tawny owl....flapping around 'upstairs' in the pole barn....I phoned (something like) 'the owl trust' to check what I could do to.
"I've got light net, that I could catch it in,".....Said I.
"No....don't try it, " said Matey......"If you DO catch it....It'll rip your hands to shreds, when you try and get it out of the net........They're really stupid, you know."
"Oh."
Another 'fact' down the pan, then.

It's not worth it, all you get is a little pin badge and an 'intellectual' magazine sent to you every quarter...
Techno: Owls were much in evidence on the Acropolis in Athens - Athene's City. Thus owls became associated with Athene, who happened to be the Goddess of Wisdom.
I remember talking to a bird wrangler. He said owls are really, really, really stupid.
Though they do have audio height finding because one ear is higher than the other - but don't point that out, they're a bit sensitive about it. They can never get glasses to sit properly.
;D ;D ;D ;D
Well....You seem to have confirmed what Matey at 'the owl trust/sanctuary ' said, Nobby. :)
At Techno Towers......We've just taken on 6 former 'free range' battery hens....(this was yesterday)......I really can't quite decide whether hens are even more stupid than sheep. =)
It's a close run thing.
Certainly most sheep and hens would be beaten in an intelligence test by a half-brick.
Dearie, dearie me. X_X

Do I detect the Dark Lord has been inducted as a member of our intellectual elite? Perhaps the world is not doomed, and he will find a way for us pass unscathed through these troubled times! Praised be the Dark Lord!

Amen, Brother. Amen.
On the other hand, it might be Milady's pin badge.
Like the advert, Bill !! :-bd :)
(Every so often I try and find the advert for (I think it was) Bud Lite from the Superbowl, a good few years back.
I found that one hilarious.....But then, I often have a very childish sense of humour.) :-[)

It hadn't occurred to me to place figure requests here.
Can the good readers recommend a model for an airborne flock of birds. 10 or 15mm.
Type not important, anything between crows and vultures would do.
There are unconfirmed suggestions that the originals may have been swallows, but they're a bit small.

Well, surely that depends on whether they were African or European swallows . . .

The one in Cape Town organises wine tastings and trivia nights too.

:-)
Given the location I'd presume African, but I wouldn't stake my life on it.
I have to admit, I thought they were the same.
What's the difference, chaps ?
Cheers - Phil
Don't they just go to Africa for their holidays?
I thought they just 'bounced' back and forth from Africa to Europe each year ?
'Ours', in the pole barn, will be leaving in the not too distant future...that's always sad to see them getting ready to go back to warmer climes......Then wonderful to see them back the next year.

Splintered Light do a very nice flock of Crows. They are a US manufacturer but there is a nice chap in France who is their European agent.
Get your order in before 31st Oct as we wont be European after then (ooops! wash my mouth out & hide in a cupboard) :d

No idea. It's a Monty Python/Holy Grail reference.
Yes, I agree - Splintered Light is he best source. They are 15 MM, and each bird is cast separate, and sort of flat so you have to bend the wings to make them look right. I usually sort of roll the wings over a round dowel.

Many thanks, I already own that piece - it does good duty with my post-Roman games.
Mine are going into my Saruman Isenguard HoTT army to fight my Riders of Rohan.
I also use the Splintered Light Bat hordes as Recce units for my Orcs.
