Back in the day of BKC 1 and 2 there existed an army builder file for each of the lists. Does anyone know if this still exists somewhere in the ether? It was very useful for curating quick pick up games.

Welcome to the Forum Graham
Yes it still exists, However the factors will be for the old BKC2 rule set.
Here is the URL.

Just go to Battle groups
Following on from this thread, I hope that they will still be left available for those of us still using the older rules
Thanks , that is good to know.

The plan is to create an updated BKCIV list calculator - that is in process - not target for release just yet, as we are struggling with the intricacies of unraveling the BKCII code.
However, am I hearing a plea for the old BKCII version to still remain available - as well as the new BKCIV version?
Thanks

Definitely. Even the old BKC1 version is still available so it would be good to keep the tradition of not cutting off support for older editions. I'm in two minds about having to pay a yearly sub though...
You used to get a free limited version when you bought a copy of bkc II
Currently I don't know if we'd be able to keep the old builder up and running I'm afraid. The plan is to turn the whole SMP site into a static archive, so the discussions would move over to hear and the new builder software would take over.

We're not a fan of the yearly subs either, so it's more likely to be single one-off payment instead.

We had to stop the free access as it was a code-hack that Pete used to do manually so there's no way for us to do it through the site Admin.

Pity, was a usefull feature!
The old BKC army generator was essentially an excel spread sheet made to look pretty.
Would it be possible to offer just the spread sheet calculator as a down load? I would be willing to pay for this

Not exactly sure on that, I'd need to talk to our tech guy about it. The new builder will be much cheaper than the old one, maybe just a one-off payment for full-time access, so that might tick all of the boxes for folks.
I have an Excell Spread sheet for CWC which you could adapt - ie add lists - for BKC. I've done mine with the organisational options for the army. So for an Ameriacn army in 44-5 you would need pages for Infantry Division, Armoured Division, Airbourne Divison and Cavalry RGt.
Conact me back channel. The sheet is in Excell 2013, and wont work with open office .

Whatever the tech solution is I think this is a very useful feature that will add to the USP of BKC I, II and IV. Tech gadgets like this add support will probably get younger communities involved as they create and manage their battlegroups. I just had a very happy play producing a Spanish Republican 1000 point force.
It is in hand - however we do not have the code for the BKCI version (as I understand it) and we are trying to create BKCIV from BCKII but it might take a while.
But it is noted and as they say a project we are engaged in.
:)
Will the Pirates have a page on this?
ARRRRRRR - No
