Post by: Leon on 14 December 2010, 01:55:49 AM
Just thought I'd put these here, for anyone who didn't see Clib's original post:

We probably won't get chance to mould them up in time for the January releases, as we've got all sorts of bits and bobs to get ready, so they should be ready for February.

It is nice to see that these will be nearing production in the New Year. The command and the RI regiment will be very useful and boost the range which continues to be of the highest quality.

Why to do standing command in cutdown coats, if there is no adjacent standing pack of privates ?

Leon, i'm preparing another order for you for some AWI, so the question is - will these be on February's list ?

If you order them straightaway on the 1st Feb, we should have them in the post to you within a week or so, then postage to you is about 3-5 days?  So you'll have about 2 weeks to get them painted!   :D

So will these be ready on Feb. 1st or sometime after? I'm getting ready to place an order and was wondering if I should wait a few days or include them in a future order?

Great job !

BTW - what will be the difference between guardsmen and line troops, apart form headgear of course ?

Well, not a huge amount, they could probably be used for line regiments too. I've given them closely cropped round hats, gaitered trousers and cut down coats. One detail that might be different from other packs is the bayonet sheath affixed under the cartridge box, but that's barely noticeable. The command have an ensign, which gives you a choice to have flags or not even though its unlikely the standards ever left England. The light and grenadier  companies do have distinctive hats which I wanted to capture. In the round I followed this article. http://www.military-historians.org/company/journal/guards/guards.htm

Arguably other packs would have done for the guards, but I wanted them to have a distinct pack as they are a special regiment and I think deserve to stand out.

Looks like my AWI project has just been extended a few more months!

Thanks Clib.
It seems that we use the same page for Guards uniforms.
What was your source for smaller hats ? The picture of officer ?  http://www.military-historians.org/company/journal/guards/guards7.jpg

And the last question:
Is the British firing line in cut dow coats and hats sheduled in foreseable future ?

Yeah pretty much, gives them a distinct look, though its just as likely they had wider brims.
Cut down coats and hats are probably in the next batch of AWI infantry, but bear in mind I have more LoA to do first, and the next AWI I will work on will be cavalry. No more infantry before the autumn I'd imagine.

Clib, I love you, I want to marry you and have your babies. The only obstacle that I can see is that I am a bloke, married with 2 kids .  :-*

Not sure yet, too many shows at the moment to get many moulds done.  The missing LoA moulds are being done as I type, and I think we master moulded up some of the recent WW2 masters as well.
