Title: Cruel Seas Convoy
Post by: sunjester on 06 April 2019, 07:14:13 AM
I had Orcs over for a game of Cruel Seas, to give my new ships an outing. I'd come up with a scenario for a S-boat attack on a British convoy. We had great fun!

You are inspiring me.

However, I forgive you.

How do you do the wakes?

Those look very good!

A reminder I should spend less time in Tamriel helping the Northern Elswyr Defence force and more in the real world painting sutff :)

The wakes are provded with the game, fsn, and are also available for download from the Warlord site.

Yeah, I wondered about that too. Is there something printed on these (or am I needing new glasses?*)

Nice report!  :-bd

*(which I do, anyway!). :-[

Yeah, the wakes are provided for the game and also keep track of each boats current speed.

Don't look now but they are doing a Age of Sail version of this game.

I already have my own home written set of Age of Sail rules and 60 ships and frigates :)

Hopefully it will be better researched!

It was an excellent game , and my resolve at not buying any more figures or starting new period this year is getting worn down.  :)

Yeeess.

I spent about £250 on 47 ships over 2 years ... and haven't painted one of them yet!

I agree its not horrendous amounts of money, but a little more than I want to spend at present.  There is also the possibility of the Black Sails game

Go 1:600th :)

They take up less space - both on-table and in storage.

Less detail but therefore faster to paint.

Admittedly the plastic ships are much the same price as the 1/600 ones but everything else (ships, planes, terrain) is hugely cheaper.

The problem is all the other I game with have gone 1:300 so I either have to go with 1:300 or do both sides.  Also the most expensive bit is the cloth, and that's the same cost no matter what scale you play

Have you considered becoming blue/green colour blind

Also how much are you spending on a blue cloth!

But he wants a pretty cloth!

A Tiny Terrain cloth is £60 for 6x 4 feet, but if I get one that fits my new table its about £125

Exactly, otherwise I might as well use cardboard counters for the ships.  I like my tables to look pretty

I have added a new vessel to my British fleet, an armed Isles Trawler with a 3 pounder gun and two twin 20mm. It is my first 3D printed model, from this chap https://www.magpiedesigner.com/.

Nice trawler, I've gone for both scales as I had a load of 1/600th already. One advantage of 1/600th - Tamiya 1/700th scale destroyers - OK a bit small but who's complaining? at £9.99 a pair, I have 2 O class, and 2 1936 German types...

That looks very nice, just ready for the S boats to put a couple of torpedoes in.

You are really painting them very fast.
