Put some pictures up of 10mm French Revolutionary Wars figures fro. The pictures were taken with my iphone so not the best quality. I know there are some mixed feeling about this range but I really like the figures alot, I'm a fan of some caricature in my sculpts.

Great paintjob.
Lovely work
Brilliant
"En Avant! Vive La Republique!"
Great stuff, love the paint job.
Like the sculpts too, lots of character.
Great work 8).
Nice work, so many lovely uniforms in the Revolutionary war, and often overlooked for Napoleonic armies. Lovely work on those characterful little troops. :)
Lovely paintjob - well done
Not a fan of the sculpts, to be honest (which is strange because I like the almost cartoonish look of Foundry 28mm SYW Prussians and 28mm Elite Miniatures Napoleonics). Nevertheless, the painting of them is marvellous. What a grand job! =D>
Very nice indeed.....captures the somewhat irregular nature of the "sans colottes" uniforms really well.
I like your idea to use a SYW based set of rules rather than a Napoleonic based set since all the opposition was still fighting in the older linear style.
Not sure if anyone makes 10mm Mamelukes but the 1798 expedition to Egypt would give you some colourful opposition, if no Mamelukes there's always the British to fight ;)
The paint job is quite simply, superb! My only criticism, and I trust you will take it as a constructivw one, is regarding rhe flag. As the biggest single object on the base, it attracts the attention .At present, without folds, or drooping down, it look stiff, lifeless, and somewhat odd. Why not experiment with folding a dummy flag, maybe just white paper, perhaps in triangles, drooping away from the pole. When you find a look that appeals to you, then try and reproduce it on a unit.
These look great
Take care
Andy
Thanks for all the kind words gents. Mollinary, much appreciate the cronstructive criticism! I went back and added some bends and waves to the flags. Due to the size of the flagpoles and where their positioned I had to make the flags 8mm high so there isn't alot of area to make crazy flopping but they all now have some "movement" to them. Not sure why the photos came out so big.

You can edit the size of an image by adding width= or height= to the first img tag. I've used img width=700 for the ones below.
Once again "c'est magnifique!"

"C'est magnifique!"
And I sure even better with even a small bit of movement in the flags
Super work ! :-bd
Cheers - Phil
=D> Very good.
First class painting
Very nicely done indeed!!! Love the period for the simple fact that the uniforms were a true mishmash, and you have captured it perfectly! Hoping to see more as your army grows.
Terry
Bravo! Like Terry37, enjoy the mishmash of clothing and uniforms. Nicely done. I enjoy the idea of "caracture" as well. Your unit looks like something out of a Gillray cartoon and I mean that as a great complement.
I just picked up the Revolutionary French & Austrian army packs and thought I would search the forum for pictures to give me inspiration
The search thew up this thread.
Amazing paint job - well done
Where did you get the flags from?
Alan
.
Excellent paint job. I agree with Mollinary about the flags though. They are Army of Italy are they not? French Revolutionary war period flags were quite large too. These look a bit too small alongside these chunky little figures. The Army of Italy flags were among the smallest at 156cm square but at 1:150 ('10mm') scale they should be approximately 11mm square on an approximately 20mm staff.
.
I've found this thread a bit late, but can I add "Very nicely done" to the other posts.
I've painted a couple of units of these and, like "Streetgang", I like the character these figures have.
I like relatively large flags; mine are 14mm square so I carved away the original flagpole, bored out a hole and replaced the pole with brass rod. I made my own flags in PAINT and printed them out on a laser-jet printer.
A trawl of the internet will throw up suitable examples to provide the revolution's Fasces motif and the labels for "Republique/Francaise" and "Discipline Et Soumission/Aux Loix Militaires" or, if you're feeling clever, you can create them in WORD and copy them into PAINT. Identify which regiments you need from the OOBs and all the designs can be found in Ludovic Letrun's "French Infantry Flags: From 1786 to the End of the First Empire".
