Title: Korean war aircraft
Post by: Matt J on 15 January 2019, 11:02:47 AM
hi All

Having trouble finding anything in 1/144 or 1/150 scale that fits in with the Korean war, can anyone point me in right direction preferably US or Soviet -

F4U Corsair
F51D Mustang
F80 shooting star
F86 Sabre

MIG 15

Thanks in advance  :)

Matt

Bit pricey now.

I was looking for the Eduard 1:144 Mig 15 ... but it seems to have been discontinued.

Sorry.

Have you got aircraft for your own project or is that something you're not too concerned about?

I've got the Eduard Mig 15s, and they're lovely little kits.

I'm sure Revell used to do a Corsair, but that's gone now too.

Sweet (despite the box art) do some nice little kits (2 to a box). Certainly a Mustang, but I'm not sure who distributes in the UK ... if anyone.

I second that.  I got most of my 1/144 1950s airpower via Hannants - picked up the Meteor and Corsair as F Toys on ebay.

Didn't Revell miniwings do a Corsair. We used a couple in our CWC Gloster Hill game for WIs 300th edition "last stands".

I think "did" rather than "do".

Because of the lack of 1:144 stuff for Early war polish I went down the 1:300 route. they look ok when on a rod 8 inches above the table

Hi

Nothing specific  and even my favourite HobbyLink Japan is coming up dry but two sites I've found handy for bits and pieces in 1/144 are:-

https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/1144modelsau (https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/1144modelsau)

http://www.kits-shop.com/index.php (http://www.kits-shop.com/index.php)

Australian and Czech sites but you can't have everything  :D :D

Edit: Also just thought of this one for challenging resin models - http://airalex.homestead.com/KITSFORSALE.html (http://airalex.homestead.com/KITSFORSALE.html)

Cheers

Thanks Andy - I'd seen the AFV Corsair kit on Hannants (but currently out of stock) definitely one I will pick up when available.

Thanks also to Mark and Grumps for the other links  :)

Try...

https://www.shapeways.com/marketplace

I've found that plastic kits can be hard to find, not the scale they claim to be, expensive, and very fiddly to make!

The models supplied by Shapeways are usually half the price of model kits with the added benefit that you don't have to get yourself covered in glue when you try to make them. They are also quite good enough for use on or over the wargames table.

Eg...

https://www.shapeways.com/product/CQTRMDP29/1-144-f-84-thunderjet?optionId=57463299&li=marketplace

I'm sure you can find other useful aircraft in the WWII ranges.

Thanks John !

Some great kit here.

The Alouette III is a popular kite for Bushwars.
