Thank you for the heads up - I've just had a look through the latest edition and,
as usual, am really impressed by the content and enthusiasm.   I imagine this can
be a thankless task.

Well done !

Phil

QuoteIssue 50, which may be the final issue for Warning Order, is now available for download.

I get the impression that a lack of feedback / acknowledgement is leaving the author feeling that an awful lot of hard work is either not being appreciated or even looked at properly.

A shame really, but does tie in to the 'internet is free and I don't have to thank anyone for their efforts' mindset that is becoming the norm, perpetuated by the huge amount of on screen content that  consumers are faced with filtering each day.

I thought his observation of too much product being availailable / produced, for sustainabily was soundly made, especially in the context of boardgames (and KickStarter ... which he doesn't mention).

Thanks for the heads up, it is a wonderful magazine.

I agree with Norm about appreciation and feedback and have contacted Matt before to at least give a thank you for his hard work.
Have also just suggested that he use a PayPal donation on the club site so readers could show tangible support. He may not want to do this as WO seems a strict labor of love.

His email is on the home page of the club site but here it is if you are inclined to thank him for his free journal.

Thanks d_Guy, email sent

I must admit I'm a little guilty of not expressing gratitude to all the sites I use :-[

Several of the comments systems require Facebook or similar logins which is a bit of a pain :(

I think I've just decided on one of my New Year's resolutions

An excellent issue and a lot of his views ring true with me, given that we appear to be the same age, near as damn it. I plan to mail him over the weekend to thank him for his efforts and this issue in particular.

I got a very nice reply to my thank you email which included the following :)
QuoteThe large number of emails I've received has shown me that people are reading it, which certainly provides incentive to carry on.

I don't recall seeing this before. Looks interesting. Quite nostalgic when I dipped into Issue #39 and saw a Strategy & Tactics issue I once had and which I subsequently sold. The game included was "Berlin '85: The Enemy at the Gates" and I remember meeting the guy who bought it, in the local village pub. This was before the internet so I must have posted an advert in S&T or Phoenix magazine (these were the only two mags I subscribed to). I recall the transaction fondly because, not being a member of a club, it was really good to talk to someone about wargaming over a pint. Don't know who the guy is/was - wonder if he's still wargaming? If there is any waning of interest in Warning Order, I imagine that the ongoing expansion of the internet and proliferation of wargaming blogs is the cause. Certainly, for me, it will be a 'new resource' in the foreseeable future, whether he continues producing new issues or stops at Issue #50.

My goodness - what a lot of downloading you have to do.
