Title: our SCW 1936 campaign
Post by: ronan on 28 November 2010, 08:32:39 PM
Hello
last weeks we played several games from our early Spanish civil war. (A Nationalist column is fighting his way through anarchists villages and some republican support)
Here are some pics of the last two games. We used Ambush Alley for the first scenario (Nationalists regulars against untrained milicians), and we used Force on Force for the second scenario (as the nationalists met regular republicans)

(You'll find the full story in french  here for the part 1 (http://smolensk.homelinux.org/?p=373) and here : for the part 2 (http://smolensk.homelinux.org/?p=420).
You'll also find shorts After action reports on the ambush alley forum  part 1 (http://www.ambushalleygames.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5596) and part 2 (http://www.ambushalleygames.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5597) )

First Battle :
A quiet village near Almendralejo :

anarchists guarding this ruined farm :

Tiradores de Ifni reached the center and discovered a hidden unit:

Irregular milicians waiting for reinforcements :

As the sun is rising, the anarchists counter-attack ! :

But it's loo late ! :
The nationalists took a prisoner, achieving their main objective ! (it'll be use in the next scenario of our campaign)

Next Battle :
Using these informations, the nationalist force attacked on the flank one day later.
.. But the irregular milicians were replaced by a regular republican force, who is still arriving !

Nationalists entering the village, supported by Renault FT-17 :

Robert Capa took this picture ? :

Republican reinforcements arrived early : T-26 !

Some of them rolled on a mine field..

after some close assaults, nationalists escorting back their prisoners :

the republican HQ is going back ("is fleeing" said my opponent  ;) )   We can see wrecks, a FT-17 and a T-26 :

After the battle, burning wrecks in the front, an empty FT-17 near the house (the crew fled), a MMG is still in the house, and two cows who survived in the middle of the battle !

We had  a lot of fun, the Nationalists won, but suffered losses... what will they do next ?...

Thank you for reading !

Good report. Nice looking battlefield - interesting to see that you are using single based figures!

We had another game in our campaign. a small firefight south of Torremejia : http://smolensk.homelinux.org/?p=952 (http://smolensk.homelinux.org/?p=952)

Sorry I didn't have time to wrote legend in english beneath each picture..
We're using Force on Force ( nope ! that's not too complicated !   ;)  )
The nationalists won against a small irregular force (milicians) But the anarchists learnt a lot.. the next battle will be more difficult !

Milicians ambushing the nationalists :

You can see Hot Spot #1  : a single panel.
Other hot spots are made of stones ( 2 to 5 stones )

Nicely done ronan - always great to see some SCW (and I agree with you that FoF isn't too complicated - it can't be if I can play it  ;) :))

Hello

Our campaign is going on with a very small fight.. The players are moving their armies and sending reconnaissance. Altough this was a small game, it gave informations to both sides.

More on http://smolensk.homelinux.org/?p=1309 (http://smolensk.homelinux.org/?p=1309)

Some heavy fights are expected soon...  ;)

With pleasure, if it's online, but I don't think I will go to France this summer.
