Title: French or Belgians with Boys A/T Rifle
Post by: sultanbev on 14 September 2018, 07:13:17 PM
Will there be a Belgian (or Frenchman) in Adrian helmet armed with Boys A/T rifle when the rest of the Belgians come out?

Or, how possible is it to do headswaps in 10mm??

Head swaps are do-able in 10mm, I've done a couple that went reasonably well

You need a very sharp knife!

I find personally that waistband swaps work better at this scale.  Or cut below the tunic and add the legs  :)

Meh, just noticed the British Boys is prone, that makes headswap harder.

I don't know how different the AT rifles are in 10mm, but the russian and german ranges have prone AT Rifle miniatures.

Mark - I know the French had 500 Boys, but as far as I can tell none were issued.

I thought that was the case, didn't realise it was that many. But the Belgians had some too apparently, and I wanted these for my WW2 Turks, which used French uniforms early war. So people might want them for what-if French; and Belgians too. Trouble is I only need 6.

Axis History Forum hints that 48 were available to the French, used by select GRDI and GRCA recce units, and the airborne company

They was. although they declared war at the end to ensure they got in the UN. They mobilised twice, in mid 1941 when Barbarossa occured, and in 1944 when the Soviets invaded the Balkans. Their 1941 deployments had a significant affect on Bulgaria, and contributed to them not sending a force into Russia.
Having said that, the British feared a Turkish invasion of Syria, when the Australian diivison was extracted from Tobruk in 1941, it was sent to defend Syria from the Turks. In the event the Aussies seem to have spent most of that deployment building a light railway.
In 1945 Stalin contemplated an invasion of Turkey, but losses had been too high fighting the Germans and he dropped the idea.

However, when did an army being nuetral stop us wargaming it?

The Russian and Italian Helmets of ww2 are very similar.  So at a push you can use the Russian A/T rifle as a paint job conversion to Italian.  Likewise I have used Russian Flamethrower for Italian Engineers

The Polish 10th Brigade used a coal scuttle helmet similar to the German one, so again you can get away with using the German A/T rifle for 10th brigade .  Likewise you can get away with Germans in greatcoat for 10th brigade. I used GP31 from the WW1 range.  The officers and NCO's had the famous black leather coats that gave them the name "The Black Brigade". Normal troopers had a standard Greatcoat in the same colour as their uniform.

Obviously the packs are not quite right, but it does.

I've just bought that! Brilliant.
It's almost as good as the Maltese Defense force that I bought a while back!
