Title: Tsundoku
Post by: Ithoriel on 29 July 2018, 01:43:26 AM
Tsundoku is Japanese for the habit of collecting books one never reads.

Longer explanation here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-44981013

On reading the article I realise that I increasingly indulge in tsunomochanoheitai ... the collecting of toy soldiers one never paints or play with!! :)

I’m a martyr to both it seems. At least now I know what to call the afflictions.

I add a third: Tsunbodogemuko - acquiring boadgames one never plays (with apologies to the Japanese language).

Thanks to our local book fair and our local library's policy of selling off books that haven't been issued in the last couple of years I am suffering from Tsundoku

I think most of us suffer from these afflictions, as I certainly do :D

I generally read something of a book which I buy, although there have been a number of occasions where the writing has been so dense that I have given up on it.

Buying at book fairs means I end up with 10-15 books a time that are worth having / would be good to read some time...
