I am often doing mini solo campaigns for the LoA period and was wondering what interest, if any, there was here for people to partake and what level of involvement would people be interested in?
Cheers
Ian
I'm in
I'd be interested, don't know a lot about the period :)
Interested - I might even manage to slip an occasional game in with club mates, or can do on line planning/map moves etc quite happily!
Happy to take part.
If there is enough interest, you might be able to form some
proper command structures (for example) so that orders,
information and confusion flows up and down the chain !
It looks like there is interest but you might need to define
what you have in mind.
Phil
I would be interested.
Sounds interesting. I might be interested too.
Terry
Certainly interested in finding out more.
Sounds interesting, as to level - command of an an independent force, following orders to the best of my abilities (honestly!) from a higher commander / the sovereign.
Cheers,
Aksu
What did you have in mind?
One of the many ideas I have is a campaign based on a fictional map with countries roughly corresponding to the major European and eastern armies I possess. The armies being being William III, James II, French, Dutch, Spanish, Savoy, Bavaria, Austria, Turks, Persians and Indians. It would obviously be play by email and I would fight any battles here in NZ, though I will not stop anyone coming over if they want to command in person :)
I am rereading Tony Baths book so would most likely be using rules derived from that. I was thinking of more diplomacy, etc than a straight battle generator. Is there interest for that level of involvement?
Cheers
Ian
Sounds good, wouldn't mind having a role to play :)

Sounds very interesting Ian count me in too please.
Maybe we could meet half way for a game in Taupo? For all you non-residents that's about 4 hours drive north of Wellington and the same south of Auckland.
"I'm just nipping out for a quick LoA game dear.....I might be a little while" ;)
I'm up for that; playing the head of state and hoping my generals get it right!
I'm in, definitely.
A chance to issue ambiguous and often contradictory orders to the army, while stabbing allies in the back? Sure, I'm still in.
Sounds good to me :)
Definitely interested
Many years ago, when my kids were 7ish, I had the idea of a kriegspiel type game. I would adjudicate orders, but basically its all about keeping the emperor happy while advancing your own cause.
It was set in a 18th cent imagina-nation, wherein the ruler had ascended the throne at 6. Thus decisions of the Emperor would REALLY be made by a small kid
Can those who are interested send me a personal message with their email address and any preference of nation, plus a note saying if you are generally a rash, cautious or whatever type of player. There may be a second tier of command for the larger nations, so say if you are happy to be a subordinate as well.
I will aim to get details out to people by the end of May.
Cheers
Ian
I'll have a go.
I have 8 players so far, if any others are interested just send me a personal message before Monday, with your email address and any preference of nation, plus a note saying if you are generally a rash, cautious or whatever type of player.
Cheers

First, not my period, But.....I LOVE the idea and wouldn't it make great copy on the Forum if it was played out with the members taking up their roles, and a bit of eye candy as the orders are translated into battle moves on a New Zealand table ! Room for all sorts of genuine misinterperation of orders etc, reflecting 17th century communications. Or a player goes sick/pressure of work, and new lines of communication need to be forged with that Kingdom? Perhaps each player should nominate a reserve who can deputise ?
Yes, the first (?) Pendraken Forum role play on this scale would be a "lotta" fun. :-bd . Could well become a regular Pendraken feature. Leon could open a book on battle outcomes ... X_X
I shall watch it unfold with supportive interest. Make it so.
So say we all.
You've probably got enough volunteers already, Ian....
But I'll join in if you need 'extras'.
Cheers - Phil
Bugger, I'm enjoying this immensely already, and the action hasn't even started yet. I'm going to need more units (for my own collection, purely for research you understand)!
+1
