Title: Indirect fire support
Post by: Timecommander on 11 April 2018, 10:06:30 PM
Picture an AT gun on a hill within 20cm from its HQ, it takes a shot at an enemy tank and misses.  It then calls for support from an infantry gun which is situated behind the hill, the gun fires and claims no deviation as the AT gun is using line of sight to the target.  I have no problem with the gun giving support, but surly there is no difference with this shot as there is with any indirect fire which would have deviation, the AT gun is just acting as an FAO, the gunners can't see their target.
Your views would be appreciated.

As it's indirect fire the infantry gun should only hit on 6's

Indirect area fire by off table artillery deviates, fires once per turn and has a template
Indirect infantry gun (and mortar) support has no deviation, fires as often as they get orders and has no template

The latter I always think of as being much much closer to the units it's acting with - organic to the company or Battalion. More like intimate guns than infantry guns.
