Title: My Frostgrave Warband - Hasslefree Miniatures
Post by: Duke Speedy of Leighton on 31 March 2018, 09:35:19 PM
From a recent Hasslefree Kickstarter. The idea was various scantily dressed pin-ups, but Kev also produced some rather nice fully clothed figures, ideal for Frostgrave etc.

They're cracking! I especially like your lead wizard :)

Ian, you should give it a bash or Ghost Arcipelago if warmer climes suit you better - they're good fun skirmish games with a continuing narrative, but where the game's the thing and the book keeping is simple.

So, I decided to add some more bits...

Treasures (the objectives of the game)

My first wandering monsters, bears (I bought these about 8 yeras ago, thinking I might use them as Snow Trolls in Bloodbowl Norse team)

And approaching a warrior
(https://i.imgur.com/GytrCVs.jpg)

Who says Humans get all the fun in Frostgrave. Dark Hold Goblins, by Rebel Miniatures.
This was a Kickstarter from years back, and now I've bought reinforcements to make these into a warband too.

Jason the Mage, with his familiar, Little Jason
(https://i.imgur.com/JuMd73N.jpg)
Jason the Warrior
(https://i.imgur.com/r97l5RB.jpg)

Jason the Assassin
(https://i.imgur.com/fy7fJ4S.jpg)

And a female character, now, I couldn't call her Jason could I?
Jacinta The Witch
(https://i.imgur.com/25EbvBE.jpg)
That's the feminine for Jason

I like the polar bears. :-bd

Why not have gobbos in your Frostgrave warband? My Necromancer has all orcs in his warband, they are less likely to ask awkward questions about the ethics of raising zombies.  :-/  =)
And where else could I field an orc Templar?!!  :d

Post by: toxicpixie on 26 April 2018, 12:36:52 PM
Top stuff, love the bears.

My "main" warband is Winter Fey. It's got elven Knights Rangers, & Fey Wizard-Warriors, & goblin & puckish rogues. My other is a beast man and (small) minotaurs and ratmen lead by a satyr witch. Everyone else's are an eclectic mix of thirty odd years each of D&D and wargames figures :D

Next few figures done. Enjoy. Hasslefree female adventures, as I decided I needed more long range firepower.

An archer, a red witch and another archer (who claims she is a member of royalty, but no-one is sure)

And now for my 'other' gang by Rebel Miniatures.
Goblin warriors

At my eldest's suggestions, Jason on the left put his lovely new red jacket in the wash with the other's uniform. Thus he sports a rather large black-eye!

Serg Jason IS NOT HAPPY!

A rare work in progress shot from me.
Just got to base them, but presenting the Order of The White Bear.
Many centuries ago, these noble warriors swore an oath to defend, well... no one knows, but they are still doing it! Why? Well, in their present state of undeath, a lack of vocal chords limits the average passerbyes ability to question them...

Really cool. We have nearly finished our first campaign and its good fun,

The only thing we have found is that once you have got up to level 15 or so ,the monsters are either easy to defeat or a complete nightmare with very little in between.

So we are going to start our next campaign with a new warband.  might have to look at some of these.

I'm pretty sure the old Citadel.....and the Hasslefree would be 25/30 mm for the human scale.....with the dwarfs made to fit in with that size.
No idea how tall those penguins are ! ;D

Looking great! Love the figure of the guy with the skull face, Ranlac I believe! Who makes him and how tall is he? He'd fit nicely in a HOTT Chaos army as the general.

Four more adventurers from the 1993 boxed set
(https://i.imgur.com/lMg9Sun.jpg)

When I first got this set, I was not happy with this dwarf, it hardly fitted the heavy armour/spiky helmet stereotype, but now I've painted it, I quite like it.

And this figure was the one that really got my goat! It just feels... lazy! No scabbard (it must be magic) and the armour "We meant half scale, you know, to his waist!"

One of the three mages, must find the other two one year, it has a passing resemblence to DanJ of this very forum!

The Wood Elf Archer from the set, before the EE started doing interesting things with woodies, this still feels a dull now.

Been a fair while, but three characters added, two for a lock-down D&D campaign one for a friend. The big guy is an old GW figure and the two halflings are the latest Wizards of The Coast D&D figures

28mm Goblins.
More Jasons, not idea why, just fancied painting some, to be used in Dragon Rampant or...
First batch from Westfailia Miniatures, a gift from Bill when he sent me his Kickstarter as he was moving to Singaporeback  in 2018. It included a small amount of 'Steppe Goblins'.

Spear totting Jasons, I could have straightened the resin spears, but something more disorganised about having cronked weapons.

Antediluvian Miniatures recently produced these, and I just had to have them!
Left - Right
Heinrich Kemmler, Lord Krell, Ranlac the Black and Mikeal Jacsen!

The four main characters based on the illustrations within 'The Terror of The Lichemaster warhammer 2nd edition mini-campaign. PDF here (s://i.4pcdn.org/tg/1447381367066.pdf)

They are the main antagonsits of the campaign, and genuinely nasty pieces of work!

I moved the arm pose on Krell to give him some depth
(https://i.imgur.com/ZkSdOiV.jpg)

For c£20 they are lot bigger, and a damn sight more affordable, that the price the originals go for on ebay!
