Our final set of releases for the week takes us into the post-war period, with the M46 Patton and M60A3 now available!
The M46 was produced after WWII as a replacement for the Pershing and Sherman tanks. Production continued until the late 1950's and this one will prove rather handy for our upcoming Korean War range.
Jumping forward a couple of decades, the A3 variant of the M60 was developed with a number of enhancements over the A1, including smoke dischargers and turret stabilisation. Whilst it was phased out of US service in the 2000's, this tank is still in service in several countries around the world.

You just gotta love the M60!
Very nice, indeed.

Wow, you chaps have been busy.
The M60 is a rather nice looking tank.
Very nice indeed
Take care
Andy
Gota say it - M46 - PERSHING, it's M47/8 Patton !
Nice btw.

Interesting Ian,
The wonder that is Wikipedia says that the Pershing was the M26! It also says that.the M46, M47, M48 and M60 were all called Patton!
I think help is needed!
Yeah, I'm a bit confused by that. If I Google M46, every result brings up Patton except for an Osprey book about the 'M26/46 Pershing' covering the development of both tanks. Tank encyclopedia has it as the Patton: http://www.tanks-encyclopedia.com/coldwar/US/M46_Patton.php
But M46 = M26 with new engine - hence Pershing.
IanS
Hi All
These are essentially a series of developments based on improving the M26 cahssis and drive train [WW2 drive train had significant problems].
Hence M46 has an improved engine and drive train, M47 improved turret and M48 further improved turret and further improvements to drive train and chassis.
M48 could be regarded as the perfected M26 but it took quite a while!
Naming has gotten somewhat confused over the years and I tend to use Pershing for M26/M46 and then Patton for M47 and M48, this also gets used in some areas for M60 as well
I hope this helps

It was a little more than a new engine I think, this came up last night while I was doing the announcement. The rear deck was different and there were a few other external changes:

Hi Leon
Nice summary drawings.
Several gun barrel configurations seam to have been used at times, this looks like the more normal barrel.
The "muzzle break" on the M46 drawing is actually the barrel/bore evacuater/fume extractor
Reasonable WIKI on M46 is here:-

As others have said, M46 was an upgraded M26, but it was given the Patton name.

Jumping forward a couple of decades, the A3 variant of the M60 was developed with a number of enhancements over the A2 . . .
Sorry, M60A3 was an upgrade over M60A1. The A2 variant was an attempt to build a computerised tank before the technology was ready for it (see also M247), and used the same 152mm gun as the Sheridan. Dead end.
Both look like nice models though! :).
Agreed Raider 4
Yep, Raider4 is correct.
