And I can't even claim it was wargaming related. :(
I was cutting up some material for my wife with her rotary cutter when I slipped :o :'(
I took a nice, neat, half inch long slice of the side of my fingertip L-)
Her main concern was that I left blood (and a small bodily part) on her cutting mat for her to clean up.

Ouch!
Hope it heals up soon, at least it's too frosty for planting at the Monet
Just look on the bright side,
You won't be asked to do any cutting for her again.
You can't do the washing up
You can't prepare dinner
No DIY Jobs for a while
BUT YOU CAN THROW DICE !!!!!
Time to organise some more games
EEEK !
That's why the better half won't let me use the chop saw....and only allows me to use a chainsaw under supervision.
Hope it heals soon, SJ.
Cheers - Phil
I sense an annual prize coming on. The "Techno Self Infliction Award for Behaviour Around Sharp Instruments that now, yes, does seem to have had unfortunate consequences" or TSIABASITNYDSTHUC* for short.
In this 4/5th of a finger, I think we may have a winner.
*I think that's where Techno lives.
Ouch! Hope it heals quickly and that you get some sympathy from SWMBO.

Sympathy from Mrs Sunjester ?????? Your more likely to get empathy from Vlad the impaler.
Daisy the dog(see his picture) might give him a lick.
I almost dun a Techno the other day. Does that count? (Suppose not. "I'm almost Spartacus!" would never have worked in the movie). I was cutting a bread roll in the palm of my hand and went to far. Fortunately, I stopped in time and there was only a little drop of blood. :-[
Not managed one for a few years.....
I'm afraid I did a 'me' yesterday.....Slipping backwards on an icy patch on the drive.
Once again.....Got away without any really serious 'damage'......Two bruised elbows.....(and bum) and slightly sore/scratched palms...... I managed to get my hands behind me quickly.
The cold 'snap' is a pain......Mostly because the water to the big barn has frozen, which probably means filling buckets of water for the gee-gees from the bath until the pipe thaws.....then carrying the sodding things* outside.
*(The buckets.....Not the horses !) :P
Cheers - Mr Chilly of Pembrokeshire.
A horrified student pointed out to me in class yesterday that I had blood streaming down my arm. No idea where or when I'd hurt myself.
Last time I went flying ended up on my back, caused by large sheet of wet sandstone. Fortunately little or no snow here, just da*md cold.

To be fair, I think those tools are probably overkill for sculpting work...
:D
Thank you Leon.... ;D ;D ;D ;D
That'll add an extra fiver for 'Clarence'. :P
Cheers - Phil ;)
Sorry for your misfortune, Sunjester.
I will say the picture reminds me that I have a DRE coming up.
Thanks for the kind words chaps!
Orcs: Yes it does get me out of washing up, but apparently I don't need that finger for cooking! =)
(At least I can ask someone else to do the chopping) X_X

I was right (for once) you got no sympathy, when you were doing your best to be a good husband and help your wife.
Mrs SJ was looking over my shoulder when I was reading this thread! She said "Who's that Orcs?" ??? >:(
You might be in trouble on Tuesday......or she might have forgotten! :-S

Me in trouble with Mrs SJ , nothing new there then. Bron might be after me too after my mail with the snowman picture. still Daisy will talk to me
Let me start by saying I'm substantially OK.
Went to a local burger joint (Indigo Yard) with a friend for lunch. Nice meal if not as hot as we'd have liked and served a little slowly - may be a connection there!
Then on to Cineworld to see A Wrinkle In Time but while waiting to get a ticket I suddenly felt weird and seconds later crashed to the floor smacking my head on the floor. This was just after 3pm.
Staff and punters in Cineworld were great. Ambulance summoned 3:20-ish. Arrived just after half past. Spent a bit of time checking me over and trundled me to the Infirmary where we arrived about 4:45. Very busy in A&E so much waiting around. Blood tests, CT scan, ECG, etc showed nothing untoward . Well nothing we didn't already know about. So bump and bruise on the back of my bonce seems to be the extent of the damage. Finally discharged about 10:30 - 11pm and home by taxi.
My companion got back here, to pick up their car, half an hour earlier as they'd left on being told I'd be kept in overnight, half an hour before I was discharged, so TWO twenty quid taxi fares!
Not how I'd envisioned my day going when I got up!
Hell nuts! Hope you're okay
Bugger, I hope you are feeling better soon
The real pain will not be knowing what caused it
Glad you were not overly damaged when gravity took over! Nasty business. Take care, Ithoriel.
Hang in there, as the executioner said. ;)
Lawks! Did they say why you went over?
I second Nobby's question.
Hope you're OK, and feeling better today, Mike..
Best wishes - Phil
Ditto the other's concerns. I hope everything is OK.
Mind you, our little 18-year-old poodle had a sudden seizure a little while back, which lasted a couple of minutes. By the time we got her to the emergency vet she was a right as rain, they ran various tests and haven't got a clue what caused it! You are not part poodle are you.
Ithoriel. Poodle.
Collar too tight? Same brand of dog biscuits? Possibilities are endless.
[Shockarooney, Mike! :o Hope you have a swift recovery & they soon get to the bottom of this mystery]
Hope all is good.
Perhaps just a dodgy burger?
Lots of dodgy burgers owt der
Hope you feel better soon mate
Take care
Andy
Yep...As soon as you feel fit enough, Mike... (But only then, Matey)
Let us all know that you're feeling ...
There will be a lot of your chums on the forum who'll want to know that you're feeling better.
Best wishes - Phil
Ouch, that sounds less than fun! It wasn't the price of cinema tickets was it? I always go a bit faint when they tell me cost ;)
Hope your feeling better now and all OK.
Geez Mike, I hope you're feeling better now, that must have been a shock (to the cinema staff as well!) Take it easy and we'll catch up with you at Falkirk hopefully.
@Ithoiriel
Mike, you are about 6 foot, right.
Remind me when we are next chatting to stand 6 foot clear of me in case you topple over and land on me.
You'll need to shout at me as I'm still half deaf.
What was that, speak up, can't hear you.
Hope you are recovering well. Seems like you need to sit down and pint for a couple of days
Thanks for the good wishes folks, much appreciated.
Back of the head is still tender (so staying asleep is a problem) but the bump is definitely much reduced. Haven't collapsed again but have had a few "world spinning around" moments so clearly not quite right yet. Of course, there are those who might say that I'm clearly not quite right at the best of times :)
Current theory from the medics is that it was a sudden, massive spike in my blood pressure that caused the black-out. Given that seconds before I was thinking that I hadn't felt as happy and relaxed for weeks I have my doubts. In many ways, the best option is that it never happens again and I never know why it happened this time. Thanks to the battery of tests done there's a list as long as your arm of things it wasn't!
Jim, I'll stand well back at Carronade or Claymore to give you a chance to dodge out of the way :)
Just emailed Cineworld to sing the praises of the staff member who came to my aid. Hopefully they'll pass on my comments to her.
The ambulance crew joked that Cineworld should give me a free ticket but since I have a Cineworld Unlimited card that's not much use to me!

Was it a sudden and massive *drop* in blood pressure, maybe? Relaxed so much everything, err, relaxed... similar issues have happened to my mother, although her BP is usually so low the docs/nurses have to test several times before they believe it :D
Hope they find a resolution soon as!
Glad to hear you're feeling better, Mike ! :)
That's a b*gger, knowing lots of things that DIDN'T cause it.
Though I know exactly where you're coming from when you say you'd prefer to never know why it happened.
You take care, Matey.
Best wishes - Phil
As a trained hypochondriac, it sounds more like sudden LOW blood pressure, prehapes brought on by being TOO happy and relaxed. :D
In any event, glad you are doing better. :-bd
Woah that doesn't sound too good Mike.
Hope you are getting over whatever it was that caused it.
Stay well.
All the best
Peter

As my BP was 166/111 when first checked by the ambulance team feeling seems to be high rather than low BP is the culprit. Though, to be fair, keeling over and bashing my head may be to blame for that reading!
Very high BP usually causes my vision to blur, then to cut out all together, then my balance is shot and finally I black out. Normally happens slowly enough that, now I know what's happening, I can deal with it early and avoid the later symptoms. I had all of that in the space of a few second this time around so no time to react.
Glad you are a bit better Mike.
I had some low blood pressure moments during my cancer op recovery period. My nurses got me very quickly from 'vertical mode' to 'horizontal mode' before calling in a medic. Par for the course they said. Certainly wasn't fun.
Jim
Hugs Mike

Good to hear you are feeling a bit better, hope it gets sorted soon
Glad to hear you're feeling better
Take care
Andy
Look after yourself.
Best wishes.
