Title: Waiting for my 3d printer to arrive
Post by: Aksu on 26 January 2018, 03:40:32 PM
Hullo,
So, went and ordered a simple PLA filament printer, it was on sale, and was wondering what kind of stuff would be useful to print. Markers (CoC overwatch markers, order markers for Over the Hills, etc) and bunkers come to mind. Thingiverse seems to have a lot of vehicles, that could be useful. And I used to be a 3D animator decades ago, so modeling should not be a huge problem.
But... what are the useful things that make sense to print in your opinion?
Cheers,
Aksu

Off the top of my head:

Buildings
Cobbled roads
Fences
Statues/Monuments
Barricades
Trams and trains

I'm sure there's loads more, but they are the ones that came to mind first.

From what I've read, start small while you get the feel of the printer.

Markers sound good, random scatter terrain (barrels, crates, boxes, etc)

Step 1: buy 3D printer
Step 2: use 3D printer to print 3D printer
Step 3: return original printer!

Hullo,
Good advice. Cobbled roads sounds like an idea. I suppose one could also print a mould for making acrylic or latex roads.
Alan, the print volume of this one is quite small I'm afraid, only 140 mm cube (6 inches). Flashforge Finder http://www.flashforge.com/finder-3d-printer/ (http://www.flashforge.com/finder-3d-printer/)
Starting small sounds good. The Vauban fort has to wait, I suppose.
Cheers,
Aksu

Not if you build it in sections
