I visited Culloden in 2015 and have had it as a potential project ever since. Although the Jacobite range provides the Scots, there are no English listed as far as I can see. I had a look at the Marlburian and SYW ranges and they both seem to have some potential but the pics are a bit on the small side to be sure. Has anybody else had a go at the 1745 and if so from which range did they source their English? Thanks.

I'd be looking at the SYW ranges for the British, from the books I've seen these look to be in the right uniforms.
If you want to go for a more 'campaign worn' look that the MAL ranges have potential as these troops have their coats unbuttoned, which seems to have been the campaign look, rather than the turn backs of the parade ground.

My friends use the SYW British for the 1745 loyalists. the uniform changes between 1745 and 1756 are small enough to be ignored in 10mm scale, unlike the changes between 1763 and 1776, which have been catered for in the AWI range. My response to this type of conundrum is look elsewhere, or to a different scale.

Something that dented my pre-conceptions is the following link to "The Penicuik Sketches" which add support to the idea of selecting figures from the Marlburian range (or possibly earlier when viewing the sketches of govt. soldiers with what appear to be floppy hats).

However, I recall reading about the preparations the night before for battle in a later era. In Adam Zamoyski's 1812: Napoleon's Fatal March on Moscow, one French eye-witness recalled that they spent the night before Borodino attending to their uniforms "because they wanted to look their best for battle." Therefore, whilst the "campaign" look is interesting, I would be more inclined to go for the dress parade / set piece battle look. :)
Yes, I think it was those drawings I was thinking of, I think they are reproduced in one of the Ospreys.
The 1742 soldier is showing scale creep! But beyond some cuff and collar differences I'm struggling to see much difference between the uniforms - and if you can see these at 10mm, your eyes are better than mine!
