Title: Cold War Platoon to Battalion level rules
Post by: Sojka on 11 November 2017, 02:24:36 PM
Hello all.

Does anyone know of rules for cold war which DO use single basing? As more modern forces tend to perform combined arms missions at lower operational level than in WWII, for moderns I can think smaller. I'd love a Chain of Command or IABSM sort of game for the Cold War, but TFL are giving little indication when or if they may have such rules ready. Early to mid 80s is the area i am interested.

Thank you,

Sojka

Several sets exist. Some may be hard to get hold of though. Look at Freewargames.co.uk rules. You might also like Black Op's - which plays well, and if you can find one Force on Force, although that one can get very complex when it's regular vs regular. Other than that it's just hunt around or add vehicle data to a WWII set.

I think Black Ops might be too low level for the level of game - mind, we just haven't played more than a couple of dozen figures a side, and mostly only half that. Good game though, much fun and I do like the suppression mechanism.

Is Sabre Squadron about right? Not got a copy but it looks lower level enough... or any of the Nordic Weasel Games beloved of BigJCkMc?

Rather than Sabre Squadron look at BGMR on the Yahoo group - it's free.
