Funnily enough, no, is it fun?  By the way, how long would it take, do you think, for a neologism to become a palaeologism?  Is 195 years long enough?

While I suspect Nobby, it might have been a mistake.

Mrs Orcs ordered a cushion for out garden bench. When it arrived the DPD courier said " Here is your parcel plus one for Free"

Mrs Orcs " I have only ordered one thing"

DPD man " It has your address label stuck to it so I can drop it off here"

Mrs Orcs "What is it"

DPD man " I don't know but its for France and it will take me ages to sort it out back at the depot, It has your address label on it so I can leave it here"

Which is what he did, and promptly went.

On further examination it was from a company in Germany for a person in France, and it was one of these

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Outdoor-Swimming-Pool-Shower-Solar-Powered-Heated-Shower-Showering-Stand-35L-/352159360606?epid=1753592806&hash=item51fe55665e:g:ekkAAOSw1uRZrtjv

So we now have to email German company and tell them to collect it or we will dispose of it   ( I will mention that we in Great Britain have  had more than our fill of unwanted metal  objects "dropped off" here by Germans  ;D)

And you believe him ?????

You could set up a poll on the Forum with the options being all the suspects. They could then be "judged by their peers". Once the vote has ended and Nobby the one with the most votes must be guilty.

Nobby will either be cleared or found guilty, once my friend 'Neeraj', at Amazon, has done her investigating.

Anyone want to plead guilty now ? (It'll be a lighter sentence.) :P

Or shall we run a book ?
For fun only, they'd be........

Nobby - Evens.
Orcs - 5/1
Mad Lemmey - 10/1
Leon - 20/1
Fenton - 50/1

I've heard back from an Amazon autobot.

I'm either going to end up with the orders being duplicated.....or the person that originally sent them will be getting a big box of plasters and a crepe bandage sent to 'the correct address'.

I can keep the originals though...For the inconvenience caused.

We'll see. X_X X_X X_X

And an update.....

I haven't had any more 'ordinary' plasters...or another crepe bandage from Amazon. But, today there was a tiny little package in the post box.

Feels like there might be a 30mm figure for me to convert, thought I.
OH NO !.......It was a box of butterfly plasters.

No return addy...though it must have come from a firm, as there was a very neat "Dispatch To" label on the front.

What's next , I wonder.  =) =) =)

Have you ruled out one of your brighter sheep? I know that it seems far fetched but my observations of sheep suggest they are simply biding time, as though they are waiting for the signal. I would take this whole affair as a sign of love, respect and deep concern for the damage you visit upon yourself.  Who better to suspect than a simple creature who must bear witness to the carnage on a daily basis.

Does one in particular have access to a postal meter?

She IS a smart cookie. She escaped from her previous owner and onto our land....We phoned the farmer concerned and he took her away.

So, Mr Techno.

Have you, the only detective in the village, unmasked the culprit?
Have your little grey cells worked out who is the dastard who keeps sending you rather useful medical supplies?
Have you cleared my name or is my reputation still in the gutter along with absinthe and wearing white after Labor Day?
When is Labor day?
What do Americans do with all their unused 'u's?
Is there a huge pile of them somewhere in Utah (which the locals call "'tah")?
What do the Welsh do with all their unused ewe's?
Where do I put in my claim for besmirched honour?

Be interesting to see how it changes the way you work. I find the flexi-hose thing makes the Dremel much lighter, so I can control it better.

You, with your sinewy, calloused, cut-about hands, are probably so adept a wafting the full weight Dremmel around, that you'll probably start off by overcompensating.

One question I've got.....

The vids I've looked at on YouTube, give the impression that you MUST 'dangle' the flexishaft, and not have it lying across the table-top.
I'm assuming, that's from a safety point of view.....Anybody just ignore this 'tip' ?

I can probably use a drawer handle to do this, if it's critical.

Plasters on standby.  :D

I'm sure the one I got (which I have never used) came with a stand thing to hang the dremal from.

The end of the 'pen' like do-dah, Forbes.

The Dremmel itself, rotates a springy like thing through the flexishaft to the aforementioned 'pen'. (Damn....I'm SO good at explaining things... X_X)

I have just left the Dremel laying there, but it would probably Vibrate across a smooth the desk top. When I used it last the dremel was laying on the carpet so would not move.

Perhaps put Dremel in a box or draw to stop it moving

When using the flexible shaft (their name, not mine) I hang the Dremel itself from the drill stand.  Just stops the Dremel skittering away.

Although there aren't SO many........Too many of the complete OIKS here, on the forum, know my daft addy in Wales....And ship things to me, via those nice people at Amazon UK. (Which is very, very kind.)

As far as I can tell......Though I still haven't used it in anger yet. (I've only had the flexishaft for a short while at the moment.) There should be enough torque for most uses at small scales.

It's happened again !

A spurious package from Amazon, this time containing some plastic, fantasy themed, Christmas figures. :o...They're rather amusing.  ;D ;D

I've asked Nobby if it was him.....But he hasn't got back to me, yet. :-

Not totally sure if this one IS a jape as we ordered some coat hooks from Amazon last week.....which are due to arrive next Monday.
The tracking number on the box that's just arrived, is exactly the same as the tracking number on box that's supposed to contain the coat hooks, which hasn't reached the 'out for delivery' part on the order.

I'll have to wait until .....

a)......The box containing the hooks arrives here, (Then I WILL think this is a Christmas jape. ;))
b)......Amazon mark the coat hooks as being delivered......but not to us......In which case Amazon have done swapsies on the delivery stickers, and someone will wonder why they've got coat hooks instead of toy soldiers.

Be a strange coincidence if I've ended up with toy soldiers destined for someone else, Eh ?

That means sorting it out with Amazon.  =)

Having looked at 'My orders' on Amazon, this morning....apparently my coat hooks were delivered yesterday.....But not here, they weren't.

STROLL ON !!  (or expletive deleted, to be more accurate) :o :o :o :o :o :o :o.....I've just looked these models up on Amazon.......I've got two boxes of the same models priced at £91.37....and one box that I can't find there.

They're 'named' as "War in Christmas village", by Jackalope Enterprise....if you want to have a gander.

Amazon will want those back then......I was half hoping they'd say 'keep them'....Not a lot of chance at that price !

Someone who's got our coat-hooks is going to be a teeny bit peed off !!

Though I'll have to make sure I've not been billed for them first ! (I don't think I have...they're not showing in 'My orders'.....But I'm going to make damn sure.)

Just checked this up on a website that should be familiar to you Phil - Saga.

Here is the link but the basics are below

https://www.saga.co.uk/magazine/money/spending/consumer-rights/can-i-keep-goods-delivered-to-me-by-mistake

What are unsolicited goods?
Items that firms send to you, but you didn't actually order are called "unsolicited goods". You're well within your rights to keep them.

The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 state that you have a right to keep goods delivered to you that you didn't ask for.

You have no obligation to send them back to the company or to pay for them. If you receive a demand for payment for unsolicited goods or services, you can ignore it – it's a criminal offence.

Post by: Techno on 14 December 2019, 01:59:33 PM
I have contacted Amazon about this.

They've 'refunded' the original cost of the coat hooks....(Apparently  :-\)...so I've had to order them again. =)

'Monica'.....(I don't believe for one minute that was her real name, because of the accent) told me that I could keep the plastic soldiers.....But I've been emailed a docket to send them back.....Which I'll do.

Phil,

Just keep them, you have advised Amazon and fulfilled your legal duty.  If  Amazon want them back to return to the supplier they need to arrange for them to be collected from you. Why should you faff about, waste your time going to the post office?

"It's a different story altogether if items are sent to you by mistake. That is, if the order wasn't meant for you, if it was sent to you twice, or if there's extra stuff on top of what you ordered.

In all these scenarios, they are not classed as unsolicited goods, they still belong to the trader and you should try to give them back.

Firms can take you to court to recover their goods, if you were to resist."

I had an item which needed to go back to Amazon. They said "Print this out and post it to us." I said,"It's too big to carry, pick it up when you deliver what I ordered.* They said,"Oh, okay then, just keep it." :-)

First I'll contact Amazon about this strange 'wossname' they've sent as a (what I presume is) a sticker to go on the box.

It looks like you'd need some sort of scanner to 'translate it'...(It's not bar code.....Just a white square with lots of tiny black squares within the margins) ...I don't think the local Post office will have anything that can read that.

I've sent stuff back to Amazon before, when one package went missing.....Which meant they sent me a duplicate package....Then the original package turned up a week later.

I got a 'proper' address label for that....and a bit of a form that went inside the package.

Cheers - Phil =)

It is..... :)

I looked it up, and apparently my little local Post Office can cope with it !!  :o :o :o (I asked, this morning...The PO is in the local mini supermarket...and open on SUNDAYS)

All I need to do is print it out.....Then OBLITERATE all the addy labels that are currently stuck to the box...so it doesn't come back to me....stick the 'GCHQ' code on the box, and it'll be sorted !

Huzzah !

I believe that funny little box is called a QR code.

You can get an app (Program) for your phone that can read them and bar codes

It can be quite useful when your shopping  at actual shops for something relatively more expensive as it will compare prices and tell you how much you can get it for.

When we bought our last printer we were in PC world and scanned the bar code and it told us that it was £20 cheaper across the car park at Comet (shows you how long ago) and they had one in stock.  PC World refused to beat it or even match it so off we walked to Comet
