Post by: cardophillipo on 01 September 2017, 11:04:03 AM
Hi,

Any suggestions on what figure to use to represent the Belgian Light Dragoons in 1815.

Cheers

The Belgian dragoons uniform was very similar to the french chevaux leger uniform:

belgians light dragoons

french chevaux leger

biggest problem is of course the sadle cloth under the chabraque, but if you are willing to paint that on that wuld do the trick.

problem number 2 is that we only have two chevaux leger options in the catalogue, the 1809 chevaux legers, wich all have a plume instead of pompom, or the 1812 campaign chevaux legers, wich do not have a picture in the catalog.

Seeing some of them are wearing the plume in the drawing, it might be ok to use the  1809 chevaux legers. I don't know what was more likely, the plume or the pompom.

One thing to note is that british light dragoons wore epaulettes, and had a plume instead of a pompom so are of no use.

Hope this helps!

The Osprey book(Wellington' Allies, two volumes, Dutch and Belgium) are both very good.
