I'm an old git, kind of returning to war gaming with figures. Currently working on WW1 Mespot

Hello and welcome.
You will find no end of ideas and advice here, but you might have to side-step the collective insanity to get there. PailR and Co are very good sources on the Forst World War in the Mesopotamia and Gallipoli campaigns.
Welcome!
Welcome Toxteth,
There are a fair number of old gits here who are fairly recent returnees to the hobby ( I number myself among them) so you should feel at home.
The usually lucid Mr. Lemmy was suggesting that PaulR and his co(horts?) like PierretheShy are very much involved in your wargaming interest area. For some inexplicable reason he also slipped into a Brooklyn accent in naming WW1. These things happen here.
Welcome Toxteth :-h
We do indeed play quite a bit of WWI; 1914 Western front, 1914-18 Sinai, Palestine, Gallipoli, Mesopotamia
We use If the Lord Spares Us by Too Fat Lardies
Do tell us more about your plans/activities
Welcome. :-h
Cheers - Phil
Hi Toxteth, and welcome
I once spent a night at a squat in Toxteth about 30 years ago after a Half Man Half Biscuit gig. It was an interesting experience ;D ;D
Cheers
Ian
Old gits are the backbone of the hobby. :)
Welcome. I lived in Toxteth for three years many moons ago. Try this blog
www.michaelscott.name
go to the bottom of the opening page and click on the WWI tag; it is the Middle East.

Welcome Mr Toxteth.
Welcome back to the hobby and to the insanity that is the Forum.
As you may have gathered we are for the most part a friendly bunch, with huge pockets of knowledge that are ever willing to be shared, and some fiercely brilliant wielders of a brush. (That's paint brush. I'm not inferring that anyone on the Forum molests foxes. Though I wouldn't be surprised if one or two do,.)
If you do go ahead and paint up some Mespot armies, do me a favour. Don't ever mention it again, don't post batreps and definitely don't post photos. I have a hard enough time not getting into new periods, and it would just take a tank (ME16) escorted by some Arab horsemen (ME25) ...
Dammit! Dammit! Dammit!
This could be expensive.
Welcome,
My body says I am going towards the "old Git" stage, My brain tells me I am 20 something, and my attitude is definitely "Old Git" .
You will find this forum, quite enjoyable as long as you don't take it too seriously. Apparently TMP is the place if you want to be serious or you live in the country that has managed to be late for Two World Wars :)

I would like to mention
Lawrence charging on a horse crying "No prisoners"
A rolls Royce armoured car fending off hordes or Arab cavalry
A Biplane strafing an Ottoman encampment.
The historic moment Allenby captures Jerusalem
Need I go On ?
Time to place an order Nobby ;D
That's real Nasty Orcs
It doesn't help that Ma bought me a desert fort and some buildings.
Also last year, I was given the Osprey guide to the Ottomans.
I'm doomed!
:D
Welcome on board :). The Mesopotamian conflict has seen some nice AAR's of late, so you will find plenty to inspire you here.

Howdy, Toxteth. :-h
[I know. You were all waiting for me to say something riotous. But I never. So, there. :P Oh. Wait a minute, I just did ..... ]
That took you four days?
;D
;D
But on the 'plus' side, this only took me 3 days! :)
A week excuse!
Out Out Out !!!!
