Simply wonderful work! 8)
Superbly done - the positioning and basing is very evocative.
Very nice indeed 8)
Can I ask what base sizes you are using - 10 or 12cm width as specified in the rules?
Those are splendid !!
Cheers - Phil
Sure those are 10mm, they are beautiful!
If you decide you don't like them, I want you to know I'll give those a good home. ;)
Lovely jubbly Tarty,
keep 'em coming
They look superb.

I'm using 15mm basing 120mm x 60mm for the P&M units. Shall be using 15mm basing for everything <:-P
I blame Zippee for starting me off on this project ???
Nice unit! :-bd
Wot they all said! :-bd :-bd
Wow that looks fantastic.
Extremely well done and very animated basing. Bravo!
:-bd =D> :-bd =D> :-bd
The positioning of the figures and use of casualties really brings the unit to life =D> =D> =D>
Those are very nice - the painting and the very effective use of a limited colour palette. The basing really sets them off very well.
Yeah, the only thing better than the paint job is the diorama basing.
Wow.
Very nice indeed
Take care
Andy
Those look fantastic, really nice work.
8)
Lovely job, i'm becoming a fan of the bigger bases, they bring them to life.

Happy to take the blame - now get on with it :)
Thanks for the encouragement everyone. Another P&M unit being done then some cavalry I think . Shall post them up as we go.
Excellent :-bd :-bd
Uuuuoooooooooooo!!!!
Fantastic!!!
I like basing my 10mm on 60 x 40 three to a unit for some variety. I do like the larger bases but an undecided about everything on the one base.
Lovely paint job and some inspirational basing there. Great stuff!

Sorry, i can't see them.
Not I. 😢
Sorry fixed now I hope =)
Indeed, yes, and what a superb looking unit.
Made the pics smaller also ....they were way too big. Much better
Really beautiful unit, well done!
Mollinary
Now I see them, they are amazing.
I like the angled views, particularly the first pic. In the frontal view, the unit, with the casualties and the more 'open order' musketeers, looks as if its strength has been eroded by combat but nevertheless standing defiant with flags flying. Very nice, sir! =D>
Very nice! :-bd
Extremely nice looking unit well done
Take care
Andy
I may have to do some more ECW soon; those pics pique the appetite.
:-bd =D> :-bd =D> :-bd
We really must do a test game of Baroque so I can order some of these :!!
Cheers everyone. Yeah really enjoying painting up these guys....my first 10mm project as well. I can see myself doing more 10s when I finish 8-> Getting the bug pretty bad ...managed to turn a few at the club also now, all usually solid 28 collectors ??? oooops
These look fantastic, very nice!

Wonderful looking figures 8). Well done that man!
Those are excellent, both the painting, and the way they are based.
I particularly like the cavalry.
:-bd =D> :-bd =D> :-bd
Inspiring painting and basing =D> =D> =D>
We are having a test game of Baroque this Saturday, if our group likes the rules I will be placing an order :)
Great stuff Tarty
wanna see some camps soon :D
Seconded, will be great inspiration for my order ;)
Lovely job! :-bd
Excellent work, my compliments!
Cheers,
Rob

Three words:
Spec Tac Ular!
Superb looking troops.
Wonderful work 8)
The overall effect is superb - lovely figures and set off by
those magnificent flags. Great stuff.
I would be really interested to know how you achieve this
finish. My guess is that you use brown ink over white u/c
to provide much of the final colour and then add colours as
necessary ? The flags look particularly good and appear hand
painted.
You should be really proud of these figures - even up close,
they look superb.
I do wonder if any of the big three wargame magazine editors
would be interested to see these (as well as other great
examples on this Forum) to show just what can be achieved
with smaller scale figures. I know that Guy Bowers (WSS
Editor) recently put out a call for more 6mm pics on the Baccus
Forum but they might also be interested in 10mm. Just a
thought.
Looking forward to seeing more of these ECW figures.

I don't see why not. Both WI and WSS have both posted photos in the last couple of months labelling 10mm figures as 6mm! Indeed, if I am not mistaken, the '6mm' picture on WSS 93, page 49, is actually of this very range of figures painted as Spaniards. :o :o ;D

Yep you got Phil. I use a brown undercoat/wash. Sometimes go for black depending on the period (medieval for example ). I do find black difficult to pick out details ....particularly in this scale. I'm new to 10mm so it's been a process of trial and error working out what's best. The flags are hand painted your right, thought I could pull it off for ECW as they're quiet simple most of them....and the complicated ones I'll just avoid ;D
Never thought about sending in pictures to magazines but I suppose they're always on the hunt for new material?... if you think these are up to it? I'm amazed at the standard of painting in here, have been from the first day I popped in. The beautiful clean well sculpted mini's makes them a joy to work on...think it shows in the painting.
Thanks for the kind words on these chaps...
Cheers
Richard
Missed out on all of this kind of stuff lately but good to catch up now. Very nice. Good camera angle and close ups. =D>
I was wondering how King Charles was feeling about ECW on the blocks.

That it was cut far too short?
Just a little off the top!
And to quote M. Python: "The most interesting thing about King Charles the First is that he was five foot six inches tall at the start of his reign, but only four foot eight inches tall at the end of it"
Like Westie, I missed those earlier.
Really nice work, that man !!
Cheers - Phil
Few more bits n bobs finished off. Artillery and two units of Royalist cavalry. Camps are coming Zippee :]] .... I had to order some some more gear first.

Very nice indeed, the low level shots work well. I'm impressed at how you make brown look interesting.
Very nice paint work and composition - plus what a great touch the smoking guns are! I have been considering collecting ECW (BCW?) again after selling my 6mm armies many years ago. Was going to go 10mm (Pendraken, of course) then swung to 15mm but this (damn you, Sirrah!) has swung me back to 10mm! =D> :-bd
Lovely stuff! :-bd
You continue to turn out some really beautiful work, Tarty.
Well done, well done indeed! :-bd

We will get our respective English and Scots war of the 3 kingdom forces on the table one day D Guy. In our case its a matter of finding a set of rules we are happy with (hopefully FK&P) and the time and $$$$ to progress the project as we are looking at 2000+ figures all up :o
As Paul has more time and infinitely more painting skills than me we have a long standing agreement that we are both happy with whereby he paints figures for me and l will pay for the equivalent number of figures of his chooaing.
Sounds like I'm going to be busy :o :) :) :) :D
The challenge is finding a set of rules that our regular group is happy with and willing to add to our current dozen or so 'regular' rules :-\
FK&P certainly looks very promising but we will need to have a couple of test games using cardboard markers to confirm one way or the other
Baroque is a good set of rules but wasn't quite compelling enough at add to the list of 'regulars'

Haha... Yes. Took a little experimenting to get the balance right (well for my eye anyway hehe) Trying to make the scale work for me. Wanting the 'massed' look limiting the colour pallet and encouraging tonal repetition seems to help out with achieving that. May not be to everyones taste but it is less work ;) ..... ;D
Thanks for all the encouraging words chaps...still very new to this scale. Enjoying it immensely.
Richard
It is certainly to my taste :-bd =D> :-bd =D> :-bd

Very nice work indeed Tarty....you captured the mass effect really well.
I guess if you're doing Scots Covenanters it becomes a case of "any colour so long as its hodden grey with a blue bonnet" ;)
the question then becomes what shade is hodden grey......I'm only talking about uniform colours here gentlemen!! ;D
Fantastic looking regiments, you have giving me a lot of inspiration =D> =D> =D>
Those hand painted flags are very well executed, primary colours for the regiments are also very striking. Well done indeed.
Charles I was also very well executed, or is that not the kind of block being referred to.

Perhaps, but at least his head lies with the rest of him, which is more than you can say for Oliver, King Slayer!
Had some time lately to finish the baggage for this project. Can tell the Roundhead camp...it's the one with the preacher loose in the bottom paddock :)

Buildings are all Battlescale
Lovely stuff !! :-bd

:-bd =D> :-bd =D>
I must give them another look. I reckon they would work well for a Flooded type campaign and C18th.
These are my first Battlescale pieces. I've also got some Total Battle villages painted up for this period, they all look good together. Very nice clean casting.
Missed autocarrot changeing Flodden to flooded again.
Lovely, lovely work.
The camp and officers are amazing.
A flooded Flodden campaign could be fun, not sure how pikes work underwater, but at least they have sharp teeth.
I'll go before the fish jokes start then?
Ohh, precgewed cost, lovely!
Too late fore that Lemmey. Tarty already got us started with Battlescale!
