With this year's BHGS Challenge taking place in the galaxy-sized open spaces of Birmingham's NEC expo centre, the first army to be dropped to the planetary surface was also a brand new to the table outfit - the much-trailed Sassanid Persians. Resplendent in their new livery, the "Sausages", as they have been affectionately known to generations of wargamers were certainly Feeling the Force as they deployed an army built around a massive Death Star, surrounded by horsemen with Massive Heeds (or those 'lightbulb' hats to be more precise).

To find out what happened, the best bet is to see if your local protocol droid will help you translate each of these 5 match reports (http://www.madaxeman.com/reports/BHGS_Challenge_2017_1.php) into something sensible.
You can also listen to a podcast at the end of Battle Report # 4 to help you learn how to build a good Sassanid list in ADLG - which is much easier than having to ask a couple of favours from some guys who look just like Tuskan Raiders...
May the Sausages Be With You..!
Cool
Wow, those figs are really nice. I love the color.

Thanks! I used some new Vallejo paint colours for me, and they really "popped" which was great. I think there's a link to the page on my blog where they were being painted on the first few paragraphs - that should have the references if you want them
Who won the Camillan battle?! It ends on tenterhooks!
"The left flank rollup came to a juddering halt as both Clibanarii were removed from play by the Roman reserves. This was a setback on an epic scale for the Iranians, as suddenly it transformed this side of the table into one where only 2 units of Sassanid troops now remained alive!"
The post match summaries suggest the Romans just eked out a win?!

It was a "nul" - a non-decisive result.

So non-decisive it just ends as the Iranians peter out on the left into...
Have read the rest this afternoon, very entertaining :)
Cor, for what reads like a barely useful turning up to get scrapped into grinding not much, you place very well - I think both Al-Vadr & Hannibal the Snarky's post match comment don't do your playing justice! Sassanids were the army to take, from the winners table?
Cracking piccies & report.
Have to come back to this and go through it properly.
Cheers - Phil

I chose it because they were new... but the other two did better than me so they must have had a plan!
The podcast with Richard is pretty good I think - very interesting and unusual to hear someone explain their list selection in such detail
I'm glad you made sense of that post because retreading it I can't :D
Sassanids - elephants are cool. Dailami are cool. Cataphracts and bow-lancers also good, so full up on them. Done? Might explain my general level of thought for armies, and their subsequent performance ;)
Joint third from a set of reports that imply you barely clung to not quite disaster can't be bad ;)
Will have a listen to the pod cast if I get chance, sadly not likely though .
