Anyone else having problems with 'getting at' Hotmail for the last couple of days ?
Personally don't use Hotmail....except in dire emergencies....But Mrs T does.
She had to go a very convoluted route to get at her emails, this morning, using Explorer rather than Firefox....
Via Firefox..... Just goes to an error page.
There was a lot of harsh language, 'cos adverts kept popping up....and when she did get into her account there was even more bad language, 'cos of umpteen emails 'from Amazon' telling her she'd cancelled an order.
Just wondering if anyone else was having probs.
Cheers - Phil.
Not with Hotmail, but my Yahoo did have a Spam mail re: a cancelled Amazon order, which was filtered straight to the spam folder.
Cant help with that one - don't use HOTMAIL, it's horribly insecure.
IanS
Ta chaps.
Can I just ask you, Steve ?
Do you use Firefox or Chrome ?
Cheers - Phil
No problem here
My Hotmail's fine, but I've been getting the same spam for a couple of weeks.
Ta, Guys.
Again...Can I ask if you use Firefox or Chrome ?
(I expect it'll sort itself out in a couple of days, anyway.)
Cheers - Phil
My Hotmail is also working fine. I actually pay for the enhanced version so don't seem to have any issues described. Ian's comment about security is worrisome however.
Btw - just went through my spam filter - about a dozen bogus Amazon Order cancellations (plus the usually Nigerian princes and an invitation to have lunch at the Whitehouse).
I may be out of date on Hotmail security, but......
For spam -
1) Check the origin address - a mail purporting to come from BT wont have a sender address of fred@yahoo.co.uk (sic).
2) If a genuine sender bombards you with 10+ per day these may go into spam - the AI thinks they are even if not.
3) Windows 10 doesn't like Yahoo mail very much, and isn't too happy running Chrome at times.
IanS
I use Firefox, no amazon spam here.
Hmmm...
It wasn't so much the spam Von received, rather the problem getting to her hotmail account.
Thanks again.
Cheers - Phil.
Try outlook site, then login using name@hotmail.com
Thanks, Will.

To my non computer literate self.....It appears that Firefox doesn't like Hotmail.co.uk.
From the message appears on the screen when I go to Hotmail through Firefox then Google, I get a message implying that the site is insecure.....Just as Ian says.....and Firefox doesn't want to 'pass it on'.
Hey ho....... Von will either have to go through Outlook or Explorer. or I'll have to change some settings in Firefox.
Thanks again, chaps.
Cheers - Phil
No problems for me using it via Outlook.
Mollinary
I use Hotmail via Google Chrome but the only difference I have noticed is the recent and very annoying way the bu**ers have taken it upon themselves to categorise my e-mails into 'Focussed' and 'Others'.
Annoying.
If it's not broke then don't try and fix it just to justify your existence.
MickS
Pah !
Went into Outlook.....
Oooo,..... look...... both email addys in there need their passwords verifying.....
Did mine....Can get at it via Outlook....
Von couldn't verify hers.....So when we tried going in via Explorer, all the damn thing would do was log into MY account.
Apparently, there are an awful lot of folk with the same problem...but it's supposed to be fixed tomorrow.
We'll see. ;D ;D ;D ;D
And I've got to change things on the PC tomorrow because of my freeserve addy being discontinued. X_X
My better half doesn't like the 'Focused' and 'Other' system either, Mick !
Cheers - Phil
"They've" fixed it, now.
Huzzah ! Mrs T will be a happy bunny.
Cheers - Phil
Mrs T is one of Hefner's employees?
Well, you kept that quiet.
You OIK !!
Cheers - Phil (Who's now worried that if he switches the PC off, he won't be able to log back in again........ because of all the faffing about he's been doing today, sorting out the problems that EE have caused deleting my old freeserve addy. :'( :'( :'( :'( :'()
Phil - DONT TOUCH ANYTHING YOU DONT UNDERSTAND.......
IanS
Ian, does that include his abacus?
Of course, it be technical....
IanS
Anyone seen anything of Techno today?
Has he managed to bar himself from the forum?
He's okay, just having to restart the steam engine that powers his PC
Bog off.....I'm stressed ! :P
Cheers - Phil
I give up !
Last night I thought I'd sorted it out so that emails to my new gmail a/c went into 'Live Mail'.
Lemmey and I bounced emails back and forth...they all went from and into my Live Mail 'bit'....But didn't go into gmail. (fair enough)
This morning.....I can't get anywhere with Live Mail, and I've had a couple of mails (one from Amazon, one from that nice Mr Harwood) that have gone straight into my gmail a/c.
I CURSE EE !!
Cheers - Fuming of Pembrokeshire.
Told you - don't touch anything you don't understand. I'd just use the gmail account myself.
If I have any more problems, I'll get my friend Clive to come and have a play on the PC.
I might ask him to have a check, anyway.
Cheers - Mr P*ssed Off.
Even better.....All the contacts have disappeared again....I'm going back to pen and paper....Dunno whether that's something that EE or Microsoft have done.
It worked yesterday...Sod it.
Microsoft want every Hotmail account holder to change to 'Outlook' Col. Bill Gray (Age of Eagles) has had a considerable problems because of the number of people who eMail him re'. purchases every day he is also hgms1@hotmail.co.uk.
He has finaly sorted it outby having his outlook and Hotmail accounts linked.
I've put off dumping Micro Soft but they are insisting on their account password and the computer log on password (I used a Pin number). This I find rather stupid as if my laptop is stolen the thief would onle have to find 1 password and he would have access to eMail and various companies that I deal with
so I'm looking for an option possibly Gmail,
Problem is they all want too much information, now my old club has started using facebook for contacting members and a lot of manufacturers are using it like a mailing list.
To save on paper I'm using sPad no need to recharge as the screen is a slate.
I had been a fsmail user for years, then received an email saying it was closing on May 31st. I have therefore changed to gmail, but I am finding it rather clunky, especially as I have fibre broadband. Despite this most evenings (always evenings) I open my mailbox, look at the first email, then often get a little message which says "something is not right" (does Trump have something to do with gmail, as this strikes me as the sort of baby language he uses - bad things are happening to your mail?).
That's odd
Whenever I get odd messages I look at my anti virus reports.
But then I'm paranoid
Who or where does the message originate from. Is it an email or a system message?
Are yo using Microsoft anti virus software?
Do you have a google account or just a gMail account ?
If that's possible In these days of aggressive marketing by the big companies.
It's probably because I don't use microsoft - my search engine is safari.

I'm not keen on gmail, either, Andy.
ONCE.....I though I'd managed to link the gmail a/c to livemail.....But that's gone 'poop' now....So I have to use this 'new' system.....I'm FAR too old for this shot (sic).
Cheers - Mr Stressed & Grumpy. >:(
Gmail is ok, as was yahoo mail until we got Win 10, they defo don't speak to each other well. It hangs, crashes and opens new pages on a regular basis...
