Title: New Website Live
Post by: Leon on 06 May 2017, 02:17:09 PM
Hi folks, just a quick heads up ahead of a proper announcement, our new website is now live: http://pendraken.co.uk/ (http://pendraken.co.uk/)  It's not 100% just yet but we thought it best to pop it up for you all to play about with and find any errors along the way.  Some things to note:

- You will need to make a new account for the new site I'm afraid, there were so many on the old one that it would have been a nightmare trying to filter them and bring over any 'active' ones.

- You can now checkout as a Guest if you'd rather not create an account.  All we need is your name, address and an email address.

- There is now a 'Collect at Show' option in the checkout, allowing you to select the show you wish to collect at.  This is a timed feature, so you won't be able to select the 'Collect' option after our '7 days in advance' pre-order deadline.

- There have been some changes to some of the product codes, most noticeably in the WWII section where the main nations are now divided into Infantry / Vehicles / Artillery / Misc.  Other codes that have been tweaked are the resin scenics and our recent walls and hedges.

- There are still a lot of images missing that we'll be adding over the course of the weekend.  If you see something that you think used to have an image, let us know and we'll get it sorted out.  I know that most of the recent releases (Feb/Mar/Apr) don't have images at the moment, as well as the Epsilon painted buildings.

- Any hyperlinked product images here on the forum or elsewhere on the web will have temporarily disappeared.  We should have that fixed next week.

Once it's been up for a couple of days and we've finetuned any bugs, we'll do a proper announcement for the new site.

I tried to create my new account, and got the Registration e-mail. But the link shows me this page with error :

( no hurry for me, I won't order figs today  :( )

The new website is pretty !  :-bd

I've got that too. I registered, came back later, logged on and immediately knocked back. My unhappy history of failing to create a Pendraken account seems to be continuing unabated.

Huge apologies for this, I'm working on fixing that right now.

It looks like the approval URLs being sent out were encoding wrongly. I've removed all of the unapproved accounts if you could please try registering again?

Are there any special characters that can NOT be use for account name / passwords? (And, if so, is there error handling for this?)

Without getting into the deeper ends of unicode I can't think of anything that would cause a problem. Everything is secured before it goes into the database to protect from injection attacks etc and I just made an account with !"£$%^&*(){}_~@?> as a username which works fine.

If you do come across any problems though do please let me (or Leon) know. I won't be able to watch the forums all the time but I'll pop in when I can.

Thanks.

Have tried twice with d_guy as account name. No errors and says it is sending final registration step to my email (hotmail). Have received nothing (and not in junkmail either). Others seem to be getting email responses.

Nice and clean. Hopefully less prone to going down like a ... like ... what goes down a lot? Anyway, few comments/points from me. Terribly minor.

I like the "who's who".

">>  Are your figures compatible with 'Company X'?"
Their problem. Are Company X compatible with Pendraken!

"Forum"
Think this link should come with some sort of a warning.

"Dave - Our founder, takes care of all the moulding and casts most of the 20th Century orders."
That's a heck of a backlog!

Resin Scenics
Lot of 'em are metal.  Just "scenics"?

British Corvette £0
I've ordered seven!

Fantasy - old
Classic?

Pictures
Why are there 2 pictures per product?

Post War and Modern
What's the cut off? The T54 is "modern", the Viet Nam war is "post war". If Falklands in "Modern" then the cut off must be 1979/80?

As I say, minor tweaks, I'm sure.

Looks good. Like the look, with the bigger photos of the figures, it also loads really quickly.

Spotted a fair few of my photos - and my big shot of the British armour is still their in the background, though hardly visible on an iPad.

Spotted a couple of minor issuettes in the British WWII vehicles - there are a number of listings with no name around BV28 to 33ish. And the photo for the staff car is definately wrong (it looks rather like a RAM Kangaroo)

The old Fantasy ranges have had a big pruning!! But I spotted an old figure that I hadn't seen before Hobgobin with Chainsaw...

Thanks for that, the missing names were space holders for future Shermans that Dave was working on, so I'll get those added in or a 'Coming Soon' note.  That staff car image is definitely wrong as well!

One other thing I noticed myself, we've added an extra code into the Soviet vehicles so all the images are currently one place out, so image for SVV12 is in SVV11, that kind of thing.  I'll get those fixed as well.

The moulds for the old Fantasy ranges are getting ready old now and some of them (Dwarves/Rats/Trolls) in particular were a nightmare to cast from.  With the new Warband stuff it makes sense to point people towards those instead and we'll slowly replace some more of the discontinued ranges.

Not sure what you mean there, there should only be 1 image on most of them?  We do have the option for adding extra images now, but I don't think many codes have been that fortunate!  Can you let me know which range/code that is and I'll have a look.

That's a good question, I don't think there is one really.  We'll have to come up with a better category name there and then we can put some info in our new info boxes about date ranges and stuff.

Um ... all of them. I see the picture of the product, and then underneath a thumbnail of the same picture. I've tried it in Firefox, Chrome and May Milady 'elp us, IE.

Ah yes, right you are!  The main image is the 'default' image for that product, and then underneath are the thumbnails.  If we've got multiple images for a single code, they would all appear as thumbnails underneath, allowing you to click on them and make them appear as the larger image above.  You can also click that larger image to bring it up in a new little window to get a better look.

I'll make a note that in the case there's only 1 image (psha, unpainted and painted at least surely?!? and what of the reverse side of the models sir!) then I can probably leave the thumbnail off.
Title: Re: New Website Live

He's right by Ghu!

There's a thumbnail underneath - from Stormriders post that's in case of a back view or painted extra photo? Good plan :)

I like the picture blow up function and the way products are listed, very smoooooth.

Thanks Stormrider,
Was able to login after your manual set. I went to "my account" and added shipping address and updated.

I Like the order selection and quantity update. The details provided in "my basket" are excellent.. Very easy to cross check order since full descriptions are present.

At check out "my basket" was unable to retrieve my shipping address. Went into "my account"  via both available links and updated a couple more times but still no joy.  Manually selected "rest of world" and Checkout (via PayPal) worked per usual. Got the order summary email from Pendraken per usual. It was correct (but no shipping address) and two of the description lines that include apostrophes gave:
                  1 x BP25 - MkIV Male tank, 6pdr’s (1)
                  1 x BP26 - MkIV Female, mg’s (1)

Figure we will sort out the shipping address on this order when the time comes so no worries, just wanted to give more debug info.
Things are basically looking pretty good.

Incidently the Address Box appears to be text so assume there is no format that should be used?
(or maybe you have a good sed parser  :))

Snazzy! Much quicker. Like the enlargement function...but would have liked even bigger pics! lol   ;D ...no probs. So far, AMV20 has a pic of a Brit A9 tank...(the code was changed from A9!). Easy to make errors with all the stuff, so no worries...will get sorted. Full marks to all involved.   :)
Title: Re: New Website Live
Post by: stormrider on 06 May 2017, 11:03:52 PM
Much appreciated sir. Yep, I'm, aware there's a problem with updating details, it updates the database but not the 'live record' that follows your login session, which will be corrected post-haste. Basically, when you login next time it will know where you are ;)

Thanks for the feedback on the order details too, there are so many potential points of failure in a site of this size with such diverse data that some things always slip through.

Another one to note, when you get taken to paypal make sure you let it return you to the site, right now ADT is configured (tells the site you've paid) but that only works if you let it take you back. I'll work on IPN this week so even if you close the browser, have a powercut or the wife fires a bazooka at the PC the order will still get automatically approved (saves poor Leon cross-checking everything).

Oh, and yes, the address is purely "tell us what to put on the sticker", if things get more technical than that then I may separate them out at a later date but let's keep it simple for now :)

Okay, it's midnight and I've lost enough sleep to this wee beastie for one weekend. Nighty-night all :)

Hi Guys

Quick and probably dumb question but in the Fantasy Old section there are a lot of races missing from the previous fantasy section. For example items with codes beginning with FHE, FME, FO, FHD, FG etc.

Is this because these items are no longer being produced or offered?

Thanks

Can't say for sure, Phantom.

I believe some of the old 'codes' are going to be withdrawn, as the moulds are so old.

Leon's the person to confirm 'yay or nay'.

As that was your first post......Welcome to the forum !

Thanks Phil. I've been a customer for about 6 years now but mostly WW2 - using the excellent Pendraken range for 10mm FOW and Bolt Action. I'm thinking of building some 10mm fantasy armies for Warmaster or Kings of War. Was looking at the old Orcs and Dwarf ranges so would be good to know what the options are going forward.

As the guys have said, those ranges are being discontinued as the moulds are quite old now.  We do have replacements though:

FHE - http://pendraken.co.uk/fantasy-warband/high-elves/
FME - These were just the historical Medieval range here: http://pendraken.co.uk/medieval/late-european/ or you can use the new Dragonmen: http://pendraken.co.uk/fantasy-warband/dragonmen/
FO - These are no longer available unfortunately.
FHD - http://pendraken.co.uk/fantasy-warband/hill-dwarves/
FG - http://pendraken.co.uk/fantasy-warband/goblins/

That bits gone for now, but we now have an extra field (underneath the product name) where we'll be adding the contents of each pack.  I'm working on that at the moment but with 3500 codes it's taking a bit longer than I hoped!

BTW the FAQ bit about "how long will delivery take" says you've over 3500 product lines; whilst technically correct aren't you actually over 5000 now?

With the old Fantasy gone we're about 3600 at the moment with a load of releases due to hit in the next couple of months.  If you include all the bases, paints, etc then we're about 4100 I think.

Stormrider,
As system migrations go yours seems to be going well. Any migration that doesn't shutdown an enterprise for days is a major success. Also looks like you are systematically dealing with the various hiccups. It appears that the registration emails are the biggest issue and I appreciate that you did a manual correction for mine (and I suspect you are doing that for others so hopefully Leman gets sorted soon).  The new site is faster, more logically organized, and the ordering experience much improved. Particularly like the way the pictures of figures are presented (with the expectation that many more will be added).

Yes, you may quote me  :)

Cheers D,  consider yourself quoted now that I too have been sorted. Thanks stormrider.

Hats off to Leon for his great service. The system wouldn't let me register so after a number of attempts and thinking my typing was at fault I contacted Leon direct at about fourish yesterday afternoon.
He replied at 01:38 this morning! Does the man ever sleep?

Everything is now ticketty-boo.

Once again, a great Customer Service ethic you have there Leon; but I would recommend a few zzzzz's every so often.  :)

Whilst I would love to claim that were true (and I was working at 1:30am this morning!), I think your messages are set to a 12-hour clock as I replied at 13:38pm this afternoon to that one...   :D

I keep suggesting that Leon's dream quest name should be "Owl-Who-Never-Sleeps" but haven't be able to move the meme-needle.

That whole sleep thing is overrated!

If I would sleep 8 hours a day I'd never get anything painted.

I knew one of those chaps wot always has a lovely bird on his arm - wotcha call 'em? Rich b**tards. Anyway at the weekend, he used to dabble with raptors. There's no law agin' it - not in Runcorn.

Anyways up, he was of the opinion that the owl was the stupidest of all the yer avians. Very difficult to train on account of them being dumber than a pikeman in a parachute regiment.

So, Mr D_Guy, I reckon you just called the Leon - the Dark Lord himself, Eldrich Master of the Ebon Arts, and a dab hand at the A66 - a bit of a twit.

Brave.

I think of owls more in the Athenian sense than in the Aesopian (and I've now also seen a likeness of Leon, blest be he).

While we will never know, a well drilled Para pike block at Arnhem may have tipped the scales. Such is the power of speculative history.

You should have just accepted it, nobody would have known aannddd when almost walking on water is an everyday occurrence as far as the rest are concerned...  :)

Anyway, I stand by my comments.

Apologies for not knowing where to report bugs, but this is the best I could find in the five minutes of research I did.

Libyan Spearmen and Javelinmen, shield seem to have been swapped in the Carthage catalog.  I am not sure which I will get, the named unit or the pictured unit.  I luckily bought 30 of each to be sure I was covered!

Thanks!

Matt

Not sure on that one, the images I've got showing here are the correct ones for the code?

Nope they're the wrong way round. The Libyans are the armoured ones.

We'll need to look at that then, as the ACR3 code was sculpted in the first batch of Carthaginians and released.  We then got requests for Libyan spearmen as well so those were sculpted and released separately.  We've been selling them for about 5-6 years now without any queries being raised?

ACR-2 Appear to me to be armored spearmen that are either Liby-phoenician, African, or Libyan.

ACR-13 are perfect representations of Libyan skirmishers with Javelin.

Some of the Soviet armour pictures are next to the wrong codes.

Yep, you should get an email through to confirm the new account but we've been getting some of them bouncing back, usually Gmail addresses?  Let me know if nothing appears (check the spam as well) and we'll get you sorted out.

Yep, that's on my list of edits, we added an extra code in the for ISU-152's while the website was still in development, so all the images are one code out.

Not sure if this has been mentioned already but some of the packs, mainly the later 20th Century periods, do not say how many figures they have.  Anybody new to the site might have difficulty working out what they were buying.
The SCW site needs sorting out.  All the stuff listed as Generic really isn't.  You could argue over some but others are specific to one side or the other.

I'm still adding a lot of the pack content info, working chronologically so I'll be getting to them soon!

We split those out based on some of our original info when the range was being sculpted, so it might not be 100% correct.  If any of the categories in the 'Generic' section should be moved, let me know and I'll shift them over.

The SCW site doesn't have the generic/regular army, civil guards and assault guards sections on it at the moment.

Yeah, another glitch I'm afraid.  There seems to be a bug in the database, so when I move certain categories (in this case moving the 'Generic' to appear after 'Republican' and 'Nationalist', the category has disappeared temporarily.  The webguy is working on it at the moment and it should re-appear shortly.
