Title: Mini sub in or close to 1/150
Post by: Sunray on 04 May 2017, 01:31:53 PM
Yes there is an AMP kit of the Losos  type Russian Piranha in 1/144 at $20 +

But this morning I picked up a "diving submarine' toy from BJ toys (www.bjtoys.co.uk ) at £1.25 in my local pharmacist.

With a little sawing/filing  (to create waterline) and addition of hatch doors and detail I will have a decent mini sub in 1/150

Last Christmas I built a harbour for  a game with Dropzone city as a backdrop - so a Cold War style game is in the offing.

The top of the sub dethatches - offering a periscope submerged option.

Images of finished model will follow.

Blodging it to 1/144 (fits better with Pendraken figures) that is 2mm=12"

The mini sub is 116mm in length= 58ft, 16mm in beam = 8ft, and has a waterline height of 20mm = 10ft.

Fits well with the plethora of Mini subs that were or are in service. The length is about the same as WW2 X -class.

Great idea. X-craft, there's a job not to have!
