Title: First Army List
Post by: cmuk on 24 April 2017, 01:42:56 PM
Got Excited so bought the pdf as well  :-[

Trying to work out a force so I can order some stuff, going to focus on France after D day. Never played before so going on what others have posted previously...

British Army, NW Europe 44-45
So far... 900pts

1   CO (CV8)
2   HQ (CV8)
1   FAO (CV8)
6   Infantry Platoons
3   Trucks
3   Cromwell Platoons
1   Churchill (6pdr)

Do I need 2 HQ or is 1 enough? How much artillery should I get, only have 100pts left so not many options...

I would go with 2 hqs, and you can always drop one out, occasionally.

If you aren't taking arty, you'll not need the forward observer.

I'd consider less armour and bringing some support infantry platoons (mortars, MGs etc.) and maybe a recce unit.

Wasn't the first army in Tunisia and Italy? ;)

Definitely some recce with those average CVs

I'm basing these remarks on BKCII so treat with caution!

A satisfactory starter force IMHO, however, I'd drop the Churchill and the trucks and add support and recce. Hopefully that leaves enough for an artillery unit for that FAO to use.

One HQ for the infantry and the other for the tanks would be my plan.

Drop the Churchill, drop the trucks, using those points and the 100 left over add some off table 25pdrs for the FAO, a mortar and a MMG stand or two.

Alternatively, do the same but also swap to three Churchills :)

I'd deffo squeeze some recce in as well, CV8 isn't bad but it's just too useful not to!
