That farm will look marvellous once it's been landscaped a bit.
Mutton stew? Ugh.
Damn fine, Andy !
Cheers - Phil
Ummm...should garrison troops have colours?
If they are line troops on garrison duty - yes, otherwise no.

Not true, Ian, I am afraid. Frederick's Garrison Regiments, about 12 of them I think, all had colours. Also, in times of necessity, some of them even served in the field. The flags, apart from those of GRs 1 and 2, did not carry the Prussian Eagle in a central disc, but only the 'FR' monogram superimposed on the field. As Leman says, his picture is of one of the battalions of GR 5, which fought at both Paltzig/Kay and Kunersdorf. I was lucky enough to visit both fields last year, and I don't envy GR 5 having to fight on either!

Things are often done differently overseas, that's what makes them foreign ;)

Ta for the info.
The farm will be getting the base, filler, fences. bushes etc, so should end up looking ok.
Kronoskaff has good info on uniforms and colours of Garrison regiments;
http://www.kronoskaf.com/syw/index.php?title=Prussian_Army#Garrison_Troops
Frederick put them in the field in times of desperation. Also the grenadiers of these regiments were converged into the "Standing" grenadier battalions, which saw action throughout the war, the grenadiers interestingly often had uniforms different to the musketeers (more like the mainstream army than the comparative simplicity of their parent regiments).
The Prussians go into action at Spittelwitz (Honours of War scenario). The battle is still going on, to be concluded next week.

Yes, the houses are tiny, but we couldn't get the town to work with 10mm buildings on a 3'x3' table! :(

Very much like the look of your table top, Leman. The closeup pics were well done, do you give lessons?
Very nice looking table
Take care

Afraid not. All the photos were taken by my opponent on his iPhone. Currently I have no camera, but Mr.Amazon is in the process of sorting one out for me.
I have HoW, so it was really nice to see photo number 2 reflecting the graphic in the rulebook scenario, sort of putting the meat on the bones.
I like that you have the guns on ordinary line bases and the those slim breastworks bases look just right for the scale. I am going back now to look at that photo again - thanks.
The breastworks are 10mm from Timecast - I think from their ACW 10mm range.
On a different tack - Alsace is ours! - Some of the new Red Eagle 10mm FPW with a selection of 10mm buildings. The unarmored officer is from their generals pack.

Nice Leman
Lovely stuff, Andy.
Cheers - Phil.

Even if the buildings are a bit big ;)
Aaah, don't say that, you'll make Ithoriel sad.
Very nice indeed
Take care
Andy
Nicely done, Leman. Cripes! They've got mustaches! And singing Die Wacht am Rhein looks like. You are definitely moving into WI territory with your theatrical staging and pics. :-bd =D>
A couple of FPW command base vignettes just completed. First is the Prussian army command. The king is given information by a general, whilst von Moltke interviews a visiting Bavarian general. An aide from the Guards waits patiently to deliver a message just handed to him by the mounted infantry officer in the background. Two general officers, feeling the chill in the early morning air, discuss the impending battle by surveying the field with map and binoculars. Meanwhile, the king's breakfast table awaits:

Secondly a corps command base. this one doesn't have any Pendraken figures on it:

Those are soooo cool!
Nice.
I like that first, Prussian SYW unit w. battalion gun
Very imaginative, Andy. In the last pic, the figure style reminds me of 28mm Elite Miniatures(!). In the process of reading through BBB just now so all helping to rejuvenate interest in the FPW. Away to dig out my Osprey copy of Gravelotte-St.Privat now (OK, not the best account but it's all I've got). :-bd
Have you not got a copy of David Ascoli's 'Day of Battle.' It is a blow by blow account of Mars la Tours, but then goes on to give a very good account of Gravelotte St Privat. There are masses of photographs taken around the battlefields by the author.
Seconded
Very nice,
Cheers - Phil
